Here we go again! After my first taste of training in Iten, Kenya at 2400m (7800ft) of altitude earlier this year, I'm going back for round two. This time I'll be training in the 'Home Of Champions' for 6 weeks. This vlog is a video diary of the first 10 days here with my girlfriend Meg as I show her around more of the tourist attractions. Hopefully I'll be back running on the Kenyan dirt trails before too long (currently recovering from a femoral stress reaction). If you enjoy the video please leave a like and consider subscribing for more running related content.

Really enjoyed the video and it was great that Meg was able to see the place too. It was nice that you were able to do some touristy things and death by core. You are probably getting well acclimatised to the altitude too. All the best for your first run. A lap of the stadium?

Right next to Kerio View there is a paragliding take off. Try it, if they do tandem flights! If they do, of course check or ask around if they work as they should in terms of safety; many Europeans go there for very long cross country flights

I like the message that your channel gives across, at least from my interpretation, that anyone with a little bit of athleticism who is willing to put in the work can achieve some proper solid results. You don't have to have been an elite runner from way back when to stand a chance.

Hi Ben great content as always ,just after a bit if advice on Kenya ,I'm going to head out there next march I've priced up doing it on my own and staying at hatc and priced up going thru the running experience tour ,I'm quite an experienced runner 2.32 for the marathon. And 1.12 half would I find people to run with etc if I didn't go thru the tour ? What would your recommendation be ,thanks Terry

If you do swim a lot, it will be interesting to see if or how it helps your running, Ben. Wonder if it will help aerobically.
@kahlaaja
@kahlaaja 2 ай бұрын
Late answer: As an ex national level swimmer that did not run at all back then, I could run 2750m at 12min all out test (Coopper). Swimming is a good way to get/maintain aerobic fitness that has minimal impact load on skeleton. Running shape must still be trained/maintained by running, because aerobic fitness is just one piece of the ability to run. That said: swimming can help to get in better shape if body cannot handle more impacts of running, but more other cardiovascular training would be still fine (as beginner runner, I am at this state right now).
@DuncanEpping
@DuncanEpping 8 ай бұрын
Stupid question maybe, but considering the impact altitude has on red blood cells, would it have an impact also on injury recovery?
