As we found out on yesterday's vlog, Andy isn't allowed to take his 2DS to school anymore - today is the first morning we've had to try and get him there without out. We also had Andy's annual EHCP review meeting at school, and opened a lot of awesome stuff that people had sent to the PO Box.

ABOUT KEVIN CHAPMAN
Hi, I'm Kevin Chapman, a full-time KZbinr, author, podcaster, speaker and occasional teacher from Peterborough, UK. As part of my daily vlog I release new videos every day at 5pm UK time with topics including life as an autism family, conventions and geek culture, technology, education and tutorials and entrepreneurship.
When I left my full-time as a Computer Science teacher in July 2017, my partner, Anna, was trapped in our house by our son Andy, who is autistic and had refused to go to school for 18 months. Our daughters Lucy and Amy and our dog Dave hardly saw me because I was always working to try and solve all our problems! Today I'm a full-time content creator who's always at home when my kids get home from school (all our kids!) and Anna has been able to return to university. This channel is the story of my family's ongoing journey as family vloggers! Previously known as lollujo Vlogs.

@@ZomeDash Simple answer stick some masking tape over the lenses, problem solved! or send him with one of the older DS/DS Lite systems (they have no camera or audio recording) although heo only could play last gen games.

It’s because he go to a school for children who have disabilities. There are certain laws in place to protect the privacy of those children ( at least in the USA so I’m assuming it is similar in other countries) so it is illegal to take a picture and publish a picture of anyone at andy’s school. Obviously Andy would not post any pictures but that’s probably why they don’t want him to take the DS on the bus

Don’t you hate how people in authority seem to always manage to create unnecessary stress. That’s you guys and Andy, that have had 24hrs of unnecessary stress and they could have caused Andy to regress if he’d reacted differently; yet if they’d discussed it at today’s meeting in the first place, common sense would have prevailed.

Omg what an amazing feelgood vlog today. I think what makes it extra special is that it could have turned out so stressful but ended up with lots of laughs. What an absolutely awesome day. Andy was an absolute trooper making it to school without his trusted ds. Good to see the council saw sense on that. Thumbs up to them, who knew councils could actually achieve stuff.

It’s actually not the bus drivers fault they had a new aid and the aid reported it to the board and the bus driver tried to fight it before contacting them they told them after fighting it and being told no (this what I gathered yesterday)

I got a very positive phone call and this is the next step towards me getting a diagnosis for either autism or aspergers! This is something we have noticed as a family as I've gotten older I must have been around 6/7 when we first started seeing signs! I'm now 21 (almost 22) and hopefully this meeting/appointment will help to answer any questions and queries I have! Once I know I will make sure I leave a comment! Good luck for the live stream and sending hugs from the south to Andy! Squishy toys are awesome

Jenny Cousins-Allen Good luck with your appointment! My sister was diagnosed with autism at 21. When we went to the appointment it answered loads of questions for us. Having the diagnosis explained loads and really helped her!

Not next year like other children his age because he would struggle to sit down and wouldn’t want to take the exams yet. However, Kev says Andy can read well and likes maths and they aren’t ruling out Andy taking gcse exams at some point in his life.

where are his rights ? he is allowed to film what he wants when he wants without permission as its in a public place they are clearly taking his rights from him when they cant, they dont understand that there is no law sateing that he cant film he has every right to film without getting asked not to film as its in public its aload of belony that he cant take his ds and that they are taking something away to help him process his day and what he has done and to prevent him unessary anxity and meltdowns its discrimination that they clearly know its for his anxity and yet they are banning it. i get all the child protection and that but hes not filming others so i think he should take it to film to help his autistic mind process in a way he understands and its a routine of his that they are breaking and they are just asking for him to have a meltdown when its unnecessary and unfair on andy that they may cause him to have a meltdown and do stuff what he cant help doing duing his meltdowns. They dont understand pepole with autism needs to be told way more in advance about those sort of changes. Anyone with/without autism has a right to fim in the uk and not be told that they have to stop filming in a public place. THEIR IS NO LAW SATEING THAT PEPOLE CANT FILM IN A PUBLIC PLACE!

OMG, I just came to watch this video and I saw a comment that said “Abortion entered the chat”. I thought “no way, someone wouldn’t say that” so I refreshed the video and the comment had been deleted, so they knew it was wrong, they just thought if they deleted it it wouldn’t matter. I just thought I should put this out there, to expose the rudeness and disrespect of some people, I feel disgusted. 😭😠😡. All I can say is I’m so so so sorry to Anna and Kevin, and obviously Andy.
