Such fond memories! My favorite picks were Goosebumps, and Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark series. Seems like I always wanted horror genre books. I also remember going after school for extra time to browse.

Oh god! I nearly forgot about the book fair. As an 80’s and 90’s kid living in a very small town of only 1,800 people, I absolutely loved it when those portable, fold apart book fair shelves would roll in. I had totally forgotten about the Troll company too. They actually did most of my school’s book fairs. My go to’s were Garfield books, for some reason Guinness Book of World Records, and some kids books like those by Beverly Cleary or Judy Blume. But it was all fun. My mom had her Masters in English too, and loved to read, so helping me get any books was never an issue.

(Sigh) So many memories of the book fairs. It's times like this, I wish I was a kid again and go back to school, so I can once again collect books in the Book Fairs.

Such a great childhood memory! You mentioned most of what I usually looked for. Mad Libs, Garfield books, Choose Your Own Adventure. The only other collection I can think of that I looked for was Encyclopedia Brown.

I'm still trying to find a scholastic calendar that came out in about 1983-1985 which had a whole bunch of oval-shaped stickers in the back and it was hugely colourful and also had a crazy name on the front. I hope someone reading these comments remembers this! I had a copy two years in a row, unfortunately now long gone but would love to see it again!

I always looked forward to the book fair every time they came to my elementary school. I always wanted to get all the Bailey School Kids books, notebooks, pens/pencils/erasers. Ugh memories😅

At my school they took the first two days to let each class go look at the Book Fair and then sales happened at recesses/lunch/after school Wednesday through Friday. They also usually had the parents nights or school funfairs that week as well so there was an evening in which people could go in and shop too. I think we had two every year and they were always held in the school library.

I was really into baseball when I was a kid and at one of my book fairs got a great book by Gordan Korman (He also wrote the Bruno And Boots books) called The Toilet Paper Tigers about a last-place Little League team that was plagued by kids with problems. Its been one of my all time favorite books since I was a kid, and is really deserving of a screenplay/Netflix miniseries.

In 1988 I bought a lamborghini countach poster at our scholastic book fair, I don’t know what happened to it over the years but now I’m desperately searching to find one for my 80s toy/nostalgia collection!!

As a non reader, I still looked forward to the Book Fair. Middle school was a bit scaled down but was still amazing. High school was a big disappointment. A very small selection of stuff I was not interested in.

Scary stories to tell in the Dark, Sweet Valley high, Mad Libs, The babysitters Club, Rose Petal Place, Joke books, erasers, bookmarks. I remember having those trapper keepers and colorful folders but can’t recall if those were purchased at a store or the book fair. Does anyone remember those really colorful animal folders and stationery??

I don't remember many books that I got at the book fair. Usually the ones I was interested in were too expensive. I mostly ended up buys pencils, pens and erasers. I loved getting the erasers most. Those ones that were shaped like space ships and aliens and dinosaurs. Those were my thing. Not to be used as actual erasers, they were little toys like army men or Hot Wheels. Great video and thanks for the fond memories.

I thought "Choose Your Own Adventure" books were magic, written by wizards. How could you have different stories in one book?! I felt like Sebastian in "The Neverending Story".

Once I stole a check from my mom for the book fair, faked her signature horribly and left the $ amour section blank because I didn’t know what I wanted. I think my class didn’t go to the book fair that day or something? I come home and she finds the check in my pocket. I got in sooooo much trouble lmao

I came here looking for an novel, it's basically about 3 punk teens (An metal head who used to sleep on the streets when he get in a fight with his dad, an Rockabilly indian and a goth vegetarian) they find an old man wounded on a park, apparently he was being hunted by a NeoNZ group. I never had finished that novel, and i want to find it really hard.

Ok class today we will find out who here is poor middle class and rich. Anyone who doesn't have money stay in your seats you're poor. The rest let's go to the library..... lol this was my school in a nut shell. Now my parents took me to a book fair every week, garage sale shopping, LMAO. They weren't poor they were, and are, just cheap.
