I seen Finding Nemo in theaters in 2003. It was actually at a drive-in theater. That was almost 21 years ago. I wish I could go back to the early and mid 2000s when I was a kid. My life was a lot more simple back then.

Wow, I recognize this location, this movie theatre is the now defunct AMC Randhurst 16 theatres (if you live in that area a longtime ago in the area near the old Randhurst Mall (now Randhurst Village) in Mount Prospect, IL, a suburban city of Chicago. I saw many movies here like Ice Age (back when this was operated by General Cinema), Lilo and Stitch, Treasure Planet, Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, Piglet’s Big Movie, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (as it was listed in showtimes outside in the entrance), Brother Bear, Shark Tale, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl here. Sadly, this closed in 2011 and was demolished for a PetSmart and World Market (which also closed, and as of 2011, it sits in it’s place). It was replaced by AMC Randhurst 12.

I have to say that going to see a movie in 2003 was way more fun than going to see a movie in 2024. There was a much bigger variety and amount of movies. There was movies for people of all ages. Today your typical cinema only play around 20 movies a year and mostly science fiction. I also have a very local disappointment with cinemas these days (from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada). That is the IMAX theatre in my city closed in 2013 and there is no other real IMAX in Winnipeg. I remember going to see a movie about sealife in 2003. Boy do I miss those times that sometimes it makes me just bummed out. And they closed because the mall it was in started to become a popular place for homeless and drug addicts and the mall is just a disaster nowadays. As result IMAX Winnipeg lost customers and money. If you live in or at least within 500 km of a big or interesting city you should be lucky there are still amazing cinemas, IMAX and other nostalgic places that make those days alive these days.

I can remember the movie theater being busy like this... i can even remember going to the movies randomly during the day. Now it's so dead that I went to see Nightmare before Christmas in 3d last Halloween, and I was the only one on the entire lobby and then a worker came by, and I had the theater ALL to myself!!! Movie theaters need to specialize in playing mostly older movies often, so you can get interested in what is being played. These movies now are badly written and not satisfying... the motive of the characters are off. But when I saw Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D recently, the whole theater was having a good time and laughing. They need to just play old stuff and market that. And then have one or two rare new movies. But it'll never be like this again bc we can watch at home, we don't have the money, and we don't care about the actors enough. Lol

Don't let the nostalgia fool you, this was a very stressful time. Aftermath of 9/11, and subsequently everything going on in the Middle East. Despite all of this, we had some great times, namely the PlayStation 2 and Gamecube. Sadly, we never appreciate eras until decades later I find.

Funny thing is people will probably say that about this era as well saying they miss the 2020s yet it was miserable

The only nostalgia I have for this time is simply being younger and all that went with it, including wasted opportunities. As for going to the movies, I prefer the modern convenience.

lol, idk about that. I grew up in the 2010s so i’m not completely sure but i feel like the limited access to knowing what was happening at all times kept people happier. If people wanted to stay away from hearing the news, all they had to do was turn the channel. Nowadays you have no choice but to hear the awful things happening everyday which impacts everybody.
