Viruses and other infectious diseases, like Ebola, are some of the main threats to our increasingly interconnected world. Rachel asks how we can pick up infections at the onset of symptoms and provide an early warning system.
Rachel McKendry is Professor of Biomedicine and Nanotechnology at the London Centre for Nanotechnology, UCL. She is Director of i-sense, an EPSRC-funded interdisciplinary research collaboration to develop global early-warning systems for infectious diseases such as pandemic influenza, MRSA and HIV by combining self-reported symptoms on the web with low-cost mobile phone-connected diagnostic tests.

TEDxExeter 2015 took the long view both back into the past and ahead into the future. We asked our speakers to help us understand the challenges that face us now - how they shape the way we live, make decisions, and innovate.

Many and many videos like that since 2010 talking about the same problem and almost no one pays any attention. Now there may be someone talking about how the world is going to end and we are all entertained.

This presentation was made in 2015 and it is just as relevant as to what is happening presently in the face of the deadly COVID 19. having a foresight is great but implementing the result will bring about change for the planet. Great talk

Have you guys considered partnering with AI search engines for people looking up symptoms? Im not sure if enough people use them compared to regular search engines, but it might help speed up the process of expanding this idea's impact
