I use a cylinder drop shot weight with the line crimp to poke through the bait then pull the line back through the hole with the weight if that makes sense. Coffee stirrers too for a lighter weight setup instead of the rivet

Love this rigging method. I use a treble hook attached to the main single hook, so it acts like a trailer. I started using this rigging setup because smallmouths were short striking my fluke, but the trouble was they practically swallowed the treble hook. Make sure you have a long nosed pair of pliers because you are going to need them!

I absolutely love the idea!! As a fisherman that's been using the fluke for over 35 years,best bet I'm trying it.. thanks Mike!!

I've done that but I just add a treble trailer to the hook.

Coffee straw/stirrers cut to length and glue works great. I’ve made a lot of line thru baits like that, mostly keitech swing fat impacts. Excellent hookups

I used to use coffee stir straws 30yrs ago doing that. Good deal.

One of the best fluke mods I’ve seen yet... Just had a day like described today... probably around 1 hookset to each 5 strikes and definitely the fish were firing up from depth... I’ll definitely try this next run on them! Good work guys! Finally something that genuinely will improve hooksets! Well done!

Great tip. I’ve been pull in the “needle” back through the second time from the front. I wrap the mono around the the head of the needle before I push the rivet into the bait. Just one less step when I’m sitting in my kayak.

If you push the stud of the river in from the nose, when it’s through, you can put the body of the rivet over the stud from the bottom and push it up. That way it’s in the right spot. Then pull the stud out.

Flukes hands down one of the best baits to ever exist. From bass in a pond to catching big reds off a beach with a Texas rigged fluke on a bullet weight works for everything.

Most fish with hit on the bottom of the bait. That's the best way is to put a treble hook on the bottom of the swim bati. Use a WD-40 straw to do tho batter or a pin straw with the ink pull it out and use it to shove throw it.

Hey what action rod would you use for this technique
@thebrooklynfisherman56344 жыл бұрын
Andrew Blanton I would go with a fast action rod. That action will help with twitching the fluke side to side.

Not to rain on y'all's parade but Mickey that makes the rising sun 3.16 has been doing this for years. All of his swim baits have this same set up for the treble hook and will catch twice as many fish as the fluke. Not knocking the rig but in East Texas fishing Lake Fork and the surrounding lakes his baits catch more fish then the fluke........Still a great rig and as always your videos are awesome........👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Try upgrading from a size 3 wide gap to a size 5 wide and the hook goes to To the beginning of the flukes tail so if they're short striking you still get them And if you need proof just go to my channel got plenty of videos of me catching You're welcome 😁 and the hook is heavier so better casting and goes deeper in the water

Watch the size of the plate (?) on the rivet, maybe use the larger plate as a noise maker on a Carolina rig in the spring? Maybe running loose between two needs? Like he said, play around with it. 🤔hmmm, gonna be fun, and I have ALL winter to convince my wife I need to do this... LOL 👍😊😸🎅🥳😎
