Cheers Shelley, I've seen so many ads for this stuff and seen 4wd247 is now plugging them, I've been wondering how much they are getting paid? But I'm glad I could share my opinion on this stuff, it's not cheap to buy! 👍🤠

Lanotec steel seal, two years since application and it’s still on the chassis and underbody. I use Bowdens, snow gun rinse off then nanolicious wash can’t beat it
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
That sounds interesting, I'll be looking into that, 2 years and still good sounds fantastic to me 👍🤠🍻

I use Lanotec Steel Seal as well. Apply all on the underbody and even engine bay at least every 6 months. Be careful when spraying on exhaust as the burn off smell is not great. Brake discs also take a while to burn through if you get spray on them. Great product. I apply using a small atomiser gun like what you are doing now. I find the pressure sprayers put to much on and it drips everywhere and provides excess coverage.

@@GoingOverland can’t go wrong mate, I covered my camper trailer in it before we went to Fraser Island last year. It’s pain to get off but why would you. Your GQ is a testiment to your commitment to the old girl. Hope my patrol is looking as good when she’s 32 🙂 we live out on a farm and it’s always getting dusty

Hi Mate, as mentioned below i've had good results with lanotec stuff, Lanotec steel seal for protection, Citra force for cleaning. and i'm the same as you and you the armor all wash n wax
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear that, the wash and wax is a fantastic product and leaves the paint so well protected. I'll definitely be giving the lanotec a go next time for underneath 👍🤠🍻

I like the Lanotec stuff as well. First saw it via Roothy, and used it under the car with their aerosol cans. Recent trip to Fraser and I wanted to try the Chassis Shield stuff. Opened the bottle and it smells just like other lanolin based products. Bonus is the Lanotec is currently more readily available at Repco etc. I too am unconvinced by the washes, have tried both SalfShift & 4WDetail but I haven't tried the Lanotec wash. I do like the lanolin based protection sprays.

I used to use on my boat, motor and trailer was a product called salt away. Just left it on and it seemed to work well trailer had no more rust than when I bought it after 10 years of sea fishing and the motor was clean throughout no salt buildup

Sounds like a great product, 10 years on a boat trailer is a good test 🤠

Cool Ep and lovely 4wd, I have used diesel sump oil mixed with a bit of diesel for around 50 years on all my fam 4wds and my own and the last 30 years used Tectrol 506 as well up under the 4wd and in the chassis and in the door pillows and everywhere I can get it, Stinks but works great,
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
Yeah I used to use sump oil on the old g60 way back, but after doing a water crossing and seeing the oil slick trailing behind decided to look into another solution 👍🤠

Yeah on the work van it didn't even break down the bird crap, it would have needed the gurni or a sponge to get it off, so I'm definitely not buying the salt seal/eliminator again. I will be using the chassis seal again, I'm happy with how it works 🤠👍
@fernandoharo16616 ай бұрын
Mate I love this, I use heavy duty armorall shampoo for beach trips and under the chassis and fr 8 bucks a bottle that stuff works great!!! Then for regular wash the armorall wax and wash is excellent does leave a protective coating on it. I've been using lanotec steel seal as rust prevention for my 4wd but the only downside is that the sand sticks to it like a magnet, but it does protect. Have you tried steal seal ?
@Tony_ASA Жыл бұрын
Just use lanolin, underneath. Totally agree armourall wash and wax , bit of elbow grease. With the lanolin, bit by bit it builds up underneath.
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
Do you find the sand sticks to the lanolin and it takes ages to clean off? But in saying that the lanolin sticks to the chassis and is protecting it 🤔. Cheers for watching 👍 🤠
@Tony_ASA Жыл бұрын
@@GoingOverland i always put it on after i get back. Or do it a few weeks before then when i get back. After a while there is just anice coating. Once its built up you only need to do it when you get back. It wont be sticky when you go next time. A few sand grains here and there wont hurt, and long as the salt is rinsed of.

Nothing beats ct18 or ct14 and a pressure washer with a foam cannon, or like other people have said use lanotec, been around for years. Most of these new products that have come lately are the same or similar to the stuff that we already use and it’s way more expensive

Great to hear I'm not alone in this, I was worried that people would be saying I'm not doing it right, but after 2 months of use now, the patrol definitely doesn't have the same shine to it. I know using a sponge and the wash n wax takes more time, but definitely works a lot better. Thanks for backing us up on this 👍🤠
@JoshSinnott97 Жыл бұрын
Great video, thank you. I had my eyes on this for a while as I bought the interior cleaner they sell and I can highly recommend that product. It made the carpet on my door cards look close to new and they were pretty bad when I bought the car off the old owner I haven't got a gurny hence why I haven't bought the car wash kit yet, but I did find that using it with the garden hose attachment vs the gurny that Graham uses on the ads that the gurny turns the solution into a foam that sticks to the car and slowly drips off where as the hose attachment is just soapy water. Maybe it's not thick enough to do its job properly and have enough contact time with the dirt? This is one of those products that I really want to work aha
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
I was always taught that the soap suds are not what is doing the cleaning when washing anything, be it a car, the dishes or clothes, it's the soapy water, so long as the car is staying wet for the 10 minutes, it doesn't matter if it appears to have thick suds on it. The new gun definitely is better then the original one we had and I didn't film it but did give the patrol a second wash before going to Kgari. I've also used it a couple of times now and if you really want to get a car clean, a physical force is required, either by the pressure washer or sponge. Thanks for watching and the support, I guess no such thing is a miracle product here, but it isn't a bad product or a failure, I just believe the wash and wax with sponge is a better option 😀
@TheLukaszpg Жыл бұрын
Great, I thought it was crap. Thanks for saving me some $. For the chassis shield you can get at bunnings pressure sprayers for $10 (garden section) with a longish nozzle that you hand pump and then spray underneath just my sticking your arm under the car, no need for a hand spray bottle and a shower of the chemical 🙂
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
