Pretty good overall, though I will have to make a few corrections. Deviljho's bite force being bone-crushing does indeed make sense, but that's because of the sheer force it creates rather than any particular evolutionary design to optimize bite force. Everything about Deviljho is sheer raw power, so it's entirely on theme that it has a bone-crushing bite (and bear in mind that this is bone-crushing by MH standards where even Monster bones can be stronger than stone and metal) with a vice-like grip due to pure muscular strength. The entire point of its enraged state is that its own muscles swell up and vastly increase its muscular strength, with this constant swelling re-opening old wounds that bring with them enough pain to continue to drive a Deviljho's enraged state. As well, Deviljho's non-cannibalism pheromones only trigger specifically after it has eaten enough to be temporarily sated. Ordinarily, the species is "eat on sight" with each other, but eating enough will temporarily put them in a state of non-aggression to each other that lets them mate. It's rare for a Deviljho to be full, and it's only a temporary period, but it can happen if they eat enough within a certain time-frame before it's processed. Dragon Element has nothing to do with this, and it doesn't affect the minds of targets that are hit by it. Instead, Dragon Element affecting behaviours is SELF-INFLICTED, as an excess of it affects a user's mind and causes mental instability and heightened aggression. This is part of why Savage Deviljho, a Variant of the species, ends up the way it is, as they've lived for much longer than Deviljho ordinarily are supposed to, which affects their ability to properly sustain themselves. Their advanced age (for Deviljho) results in any food they eat instantly being processed into more Dragon Element, leaving them in a perpetually starving state with the excess energy driving them to madness; this also prevents them from ever being able to mate, as they can never feel full and can never produce pheromones to nullify aggression towards their own kind. It also makes them far more reckless, as they no longer have sound enough mind to make any kind of rational decision-making, as little as they might've done before. For example, a normal Deviljho can decide to not pursue a target if it's proving troublesome enough, like when a Yian Garuga is too stubborn to be an easy meal; a Savage Deviljho is too aggressive to care and will go after anything and everything unless hard-forced to retreat by the skin of its teeth.
@jaylingraves8800Ай бұрын
This is 100% true. They home in on this fact even more in games as just the act of it seeing you once will cause it to relentlessly peruse you during a hunt of an entirely different monster without fail.

@GunlessSnakeАй бұрын
@@killianft289 Indeed! This feat is even more impressive than it seems! Bear in mind that Diablos is already easily as heavy as Deviljho itself if not heavier due to its large size and dense shell. AND THEN bear in mind that Deviljho has to first actively overpower Diablos's own monstrous strength, as shown by how it can lift up and toss Brute Wyverns as large itself (i.e. Glavenus) clear over its body atop its head with ease. AND THEN bear in mind that it doesn't just lift up Diablos, but instead does a vertical suplex and holds it like that for a few seconds. In order to do that, you have to actively overpower your own lifting momentum, meaning Deviljho had to exert even more muscular strength than it was already using to overpower Diablos's strength and lift it up in order to hold it in the air and slam it back down. Legitimately, Deviljho could've sent Diablos flying away if it had simply done the lift and let go instead of holding it for a vertical suplex. Deviljho is actually insane in how physically strong it is! It's no wonder that by strength alone it's considered Elder Dragon-level, with only the likes of Rajang or Nergigante being shown to match it in raw physical might among the map-roaming Monster species.

@markcobuzzi826Ай бұрын
If Peter Jackson’s version of King Kong were to face Deviljho, I imagine it would almost look like a miniature version of Godzilla vs. Kong. While I wouldn’t bet on that version of Skull Island beating Deviljho, I still think King Kong and the V-Rexes would put up noticeably more of a fight. Based on the impressions I saw here, a major reason why Deviljho could so easily beat many of Isla Sorna’s large creatures is its ability to just leap on top its opponents and crush them. However, Kong is unrealistically agile for an ape of his size and proportions, to the point of also being able to leap like that. Plus, the V-Rexes are significantly bigger than Jurassic World’s top carnivores and have the unrealistically higher durability, as shown by them surviving multiple falls from great heights which would splatter any normal creature of that size.
@gojigianteАй бұрын
@@markcobuzzi826Goji center didn’t seem to understand how strong Deviljho is. And while, yes its ability to jump is impressive. The bone crushing bite is due to the unusually strong muscles behind the jaw, not the power of the teeth. Deviljho teeth are supposed to break off all the time as they're constantly replaced, much like a shark. Also Dragon Element is specifically stated to attack the mind and has a more devastating effect based off of how much the victim relies on its intelligence. This is why it's almost entirely the elder dragons & unusually smart monsters that are weak to it. Oh and as some other comments have pointed out, Deviljho is surprisingly capable of swimming so if food became to scarce on the island it'd just leave to go hunt somewhere else.

@_dire__Ай бұрын
A quick set of fun facts is that Deviljho used to hunt exclusively monsters of its own size, that went extinct as time went on. Crooked teeth, skin tearing, and nomadic lifestyle are the direct result of this species' inbreeding due to massive drop in population. Which, in turn, is caused by lack of food. Savage Deviljho is just another example of inbreeding, causing a terrible mutation to its dragon gland. Deviljho is an endangered species, and one of the rarest monsters in Monster Hunter, projected to become extinct itself in less than a couple centuries. Still, when it makes itself present, it devours entire ecosystems, desperately trying to satiate its prehistorical hunger.

Some monster hunter lore in this regards - Even within monster hunter his "bone breaking jaws" aren't the strongest, they're certainly solid for some smaller prey but the proper crunch just isn't there for many larger animals. That acidic saliva however, can eat through metal with relative ease (Its why jho is one of the few monsters in the series to inflict "defense down" - which reduces the defense stat of the hunter.). The boney plates of an Anky is not too dissimilar to the rock hard boney plates of a Gravios, which are known to suffer a similar fate from jho - precisely due to that acidic nature. Slowing the digestive process is then also less of a concern, since by the time it reaches the other acidic compounds, its already been softened up and broken apart by the saliva earlier in the consumption process - another reason for its presence on the monster... It is honestly fascinating at times how detailed the MH designers get into the anatomy and associated ecology.
