Because ego is a necessity you have to be willful enough, forceful enough, you need to have the foundation of soul and stamina to make it. But that’s only half the battle. the downplay of gojos development is crazy, gojo started out very naive, he believed that with the immense strength him and geto possess that they could solve any problem they come across as long as theyre together, but after the mission and gojos huge growth in strength, geto couldnt keep up with him and they started drifting apart before gojo could even realize, this was when gojo came to the conclusion that he can only save the ones that are prepared to be saved, which is why gojo never stood a chance at changing getos ideology, because he didnt want to be saved, so there was nothing gojo could do and being strong wasnt enough. this is when gojo decided his path, despite what he said about hating kids, he wanted to raise the next generation to be strong enough to change the corrupted ways of the jujutsu system since he realizes that he cant do it alone,. he also wanted to make sure they lived out the full extent of their youth, since that was something cut short for him, geto, and many other sorcerers. and a big theme of his character is actually centered around his domain and the explanation he gave of it, “ironic isnt it? when granted everything you’re unabled to accomplish anything.” which perfectly represents his character and how despite being the strongest and seemingly been given everything, hes unable to save anyone that truly matters to him or even accomplish anything he says he would.
