It's incredible to see Frieza's development as a character. Up until this point, he wasn't a warrior, he was strong in DBZ but he was mostly a king and a warlord. The moment when he says "Throw me at him", he has left behind any kind of resentment he once had for Sayans, his old self. His training to become stronger, the battles in the tournaments, everything turned him into a full fledged fighter and the warrior instinct awakens. Jiren is the enemy in front of them, everything else is irrelevant. That's a true warrior spirit.

I've watched this so many times that I finally noticed how tired everyone is in this final fight. You never once see jiren using energy beams or emiting his red aura. Bro's brute forcing his way to win. Meanwhile, frieza and goku's last ounce of energy was used trying to push jiren out cuz they also didn't shoot beams at him or emitting their auras until the last moments. Android 17 was the exception to this because he has unlimited energy but lacks the brute force to brawl against jiren. That's why all he could do was support the other two by shooting at jiren. This fight was definitely peak Dragonball. The hype it gave was and is still one of the top anime moments.

And to give an example of how tired they were, during the Cell Saga Goku had trained to maintain Super Saiyan to such an extent that it was trivial for him. He could virtually stay in that form damn near forever. He's so utterly exhausted that merely trying to enter Super Saiyan is now an exhausting effort in and of itself, and he can't maintain it due to fatigue, so he's flickering in and out trying to maintain it.

For example, Cauflia didn't go Super Saiyan through a tingly back, Trunks didn't randomly unlock the spirit bomb, and Andriod 17 was only as strong as SSJ3 instead of SSB.

I think the thing that hits the hardest is that through the entire fight, Frieza puts absolute faith and trust in Goku. He doesn't do anything to undermine the goal because he knows that despite his naivete, Goku will guarentee he is resurrected. It's a mixture of Frieza knowing he's the only one of him and Goku to betray the others trust. Goku never went back on a promise. And Frieza had to win, or else he and his universe would be destroyed. He had to good reasons to cooperate, he knew Goku would keep his promise, and if he didn't do his part, the 7th universe would be destroyed.

I love that little interaction between Goku and Frieza at 0:53 . Frieza tells Goku to throw him at Jiren. Goku doesn't ask why, he doesn't inquire as to what Frieza means, he doesn't say something stupid about how it's suicide going alone or some BS like that. No, he just takes a second to realize what Frieza means by that, it clicks, and he immediately follows through without hesitation. A personal addition to all your points for me is just the fact that Goku is teaming up with one of the last remnants of the Red Ribbon Army (DB), his sworn nemesis (DBZ) and he himself having made it all the way to DBS with them by his side. A little detail that went unnoticed in this entire scene is that Goku's Super Saiyan hairstyle here looks exactly how it was when he first transformed against Frieza on Namek. They've always tended to make SSJ hair a bit more edgy and solid, but here it's a nice callback to its debut when it was soft, with movement, and glowing. This is my favorite ending to an anime yet. The fact that Goku put his trust in two former enemies to save his universe is incredible. Frieza was basically one of his lifelong rivals aside from Vegeta and working together with #17 & Frieza was an astounding end. The ToP really brought back DBS from it's failed beginning. They also put in that it's not just about power levels and stuff, but it's about strategy and trust!

The coolest part is you look at that team and realize how much of an impact Goku made in that universe, fighting alongside many who stood against him in the beginning. You can’t forget Tien and Piccolo were antagonists earlier on in the story too. 6/10 members of that universe’s team were Goku’s enemies at one point (Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta, Frieza, 17 and 18) and the other members were his master, his best friend and his son. Goku’s adventures and his ability to find the best in everyone built that team.

yeah it was definitely worth it sitting through 10 minutes of flashbacks and talking for 5 minutes of action for a whole year. better part, is that the manga is different and both are equally extremely satisfying. in the manga, android 17 self destructs to take away half the stadium forcing jiren to be close to a ledge. instead of frieza, goku combos with vegeta and push jiren to the brink, a result of their tag team training with whis. jiren eliminates vegeta but as he was going to push goku off, frieza distracts him with a ki bomb. as soon as jiren turns to stop the ki bomb, goku puts him in a choke hold and frieza turns gold to gain enough strength to push both jiren and goku off of the ledge that 17 created. in case you don’t remember like the rest of us, krillin wished away 17 and 18’s self destruct function, meaning that 17 only pretended to self destruct, and since he’s an android jiren couldn’t detect his presence and didn’t suspect his plans. the bottomline is the same as the anime, jiren’s biggest weakness is teamwork. in an 1 on 1 tournament jiren would have won, but in a team tournament he’s lacking. goku on the other hand was willing to trust the bad guys in his life for the win. not only that, it only worked because frieza trusted 17 and helped him fake his death and was willing to push himself off the cliff so 17 could be the last one standing

I love this fight from beginning to end. This is the first time Frieza put aside his differences with Goku and the Z Fighters to survive. Sure, it was for his own ends ultimately, but I love that Goku and Frieza finally decided to work together to save their universe. And the best part is that the fight doesn’t end with SSJ Blue Goku or Ultra Instinct, the fight ends with SSJ Goku and Frieza finishing the job as a team. If that’s not the most ironic and badass thing in Dragon Ball as a whole, then I don’t know what is.

If you really think about it, the Goku and Frieza teamup is a bit on par with DBZ in general where the main villains join Goku and Co. Piccolo, Vegeta, the Androids, and even Buu to an extent, were all really big bads that eventually turned. Frieza is a bit of surprise though, considering he was originally dead, and a straight up irredeemable villain.

This fight took everything, they are all fighting on fumes except 17, who's body is so badly damaged he can't even stand, let alone fight, the others couldn't even muster a single energy blast. You could feel the desperation in every blow, every single one was devastating because non of them had anything left in the tank, it was just an all out brawl at this point, no more secrets, no more holding back, no more aces. After the initial onslaught Jiren realises he has to take 17 out of the fight fast as he's the only one still in it with a long range attack. He knew unless he charged past goku and Freiza that the glass cannon would eventually grind him down and so launched himself into 17, slamming the other two exhausted flighters behind him before crashing himself into the biggest threat on the battlefield, forcing him on the defensive with the other two lagging to far behind to help. Even Freiza's final strategic play was a failure, he got goku to fire him at Jiren and plow right through the area to take them both out, but even his last ditch effort wasn't enough and Jiren gained the upper hand again by diverting them to a small platform just inside the knockout zone. At that point all he could do was cling to Jiren's arm for dear life and wait for Goku to catch up again. He was willing to give up his ultimate goal of controlling the gods to take this guy down. I think he planned it, hence why he asked goku if he remembered the promise he made to revive him after the tournament. He needed to know that even if he was knocked out he would still be resurrected. Goku's flickering in and out of SS was a glorious touch, he was scrambling for anything, any energy he had that might give them an edge over Jiren, he was struggling to find anything at all left in him, in the end he used sheer willpower to force a transformation he couldn't maintain because there was just nothing left to give. That final charge at Jiren was nothing more than a push, they didn't even have the strength left to actively fight Jiren, all they could do was use Goku's momentum to physically push Jiren off the edge and pray he didn't have the strength to push back, their final act was destroying what was left of the rubble because if Jiren managed to climb back up again he would have won. It was the unstoppable force against the immovable object, and it ended in a stalemate, they had to sacrifice themselves to stop him. This will not be remembered for UI, it will be remembered as the time Goku and Freiza fought as one. The fight nobody could have ever imagined 20 years ago.

My favorite part is how well they fight together. Frieza wasn't just mega powerful. He was an extremely well trained martial artist as well. They didn't need to discuss a plan or a sneaky way to beat Jiren. They fought purely on instinct and skill alone and trusted in each other to follow through and give everything they had to make sure he wasn't on the field any longer. People can hate on super all they want for many different reasons but this sequence alone is one of the best in the series in my opinion. (I also screamed like a little girl when I saw Goku blast Kefla in the face. Still don't think its better than this)

DB is easily the most recognized anime in history and to see Goku and Frieza working as a team after all this time is nothing short of spectacular.

Imagine watching the 1st ep of dragon ball, then completing dragon ball Z and finally watching this fight in dragon ball super. The growth, not only in terms of the characters, but as an anime on the whole is unreal! GOOSEBUMPS. This scene is soooo iconic. From these 3 fighting together against jiren to the soundtrack and animation. Loved it!!

Man I'd even go as far as to say one of the most impactful moments in all of anime and would proudly back it up. DB has had a huge influence on several other animes and is one of the most iconic and although the community might not have the best rep, this is one of those moments that diehard fans and possibly even casual watchers can enjoy as long as they have some knowledge of these characters' backstories, connections with one another, and knowing what's on the line. The effort they're all putting in is admirable to say the least.

I liked Super, but part of that is because I watched the movies instead of the anime for the first 2 arcs. I enjoyed BoG, and Ressurection 'F'. But have heard the animation, and pacing was bad for the first two arcs in the anime series. Then I jumped into the anime at the Goku Black arc. It had it's flaws, but I enjoyed it. Then the ToP arc was great, and the Broly movie was great. I'm not reading the manga ATM, but apparently the Moro arc is really good too. I'll walk away from this series positive. Honestly, GT about put me to sleep in certain parts. Super got me hyped more, and more as it went on. Super isn't as good as Z, obviously, but it's definitely not bad, IMO.
