A lot of people are confused with the ending. When Goku made his first Genkidama there was barely any energy left on earth because it was absorbed by the tree. But then the second time he absorbed all the energy that was from within the tree of might to make the genkidama which was the reason why he was able to beat him so easily. Because it was pure raw energy within the tree.
