@@chavaspada it’s true, but my understanding, given the timeline of the movie canon, is that tree of might is a retread more or less of the Saiyan saga with Vegeta, while dead zone is an alternate start of the series as opposed to Raditz arriving and kidnapping Gohan, it was garlic jr and his men, and Goku and piccolo teaming up despite their past.

According to Toei Animation, Turles was designed to look like Goku to represent how Goku would be if he had never gone to Earth and had been an "evil" Saiyan. Turles states that all low-level Saiyans, like Goku and himself, look very similar with similar facial features and such.

However, the genetic of Siayan would increase if they become stronger and thus theirs offspring would also become stronger as well. Considering Goku's father has potential to surpass King Vegeta and given more times he would be, that means Goku's "low birth" factor didn't factor in potential as well.

I was... more than a little confused over the sudden change in setting. A few things to note is that turles is probably much older than goku and might even be nappas age. Secondly in the funi dub goku uses kaioken x20 which would make turles at least 3rd form frieza power scale

3rd form is way too exagerated. Turles' initial power is 19k and went to 300k after the first fruit, one more and he'd be able to kill frieza in his first form. the second form would turn the tables and turles would end up getting killed.

Frankly, I rather like the explanation that Turles and Goku only look alike because they're both low born. It kind of has a subtle hint about saiyan society, implying that only the elites like Vegeta could breed normally, and that those who's only purpose is to serve as rank-and-file fodder were instead 'mass produced' from a small genetic pool in order to make sure that they didn't breed stronger warriors. Through this, the elite could maintain their power over saiyan society by making sure they only bred with the strongest and produced the strongest offspring, while the low born simply had their genetic material taken and then used to sort of 'grow' additional low class warriors. Through this, low class warriors never were allowed to breed with each other, which would have given them the chance to breed stronger offspring over generations through selective mating and thus potentially challenge the ruling class. And it would further serve to fuel Vegeta's initial dismisal of Goku/Kakarot, since to him Goku wasn't just a low class... he was just a mass produced fodder soldier, where he the Prince of Saiyans was actually born and bred Of course, this is ultimately not the case as later movies and series showed us... but it was kind of neat at the time

My only issue is what about all the other lowclass saiyans who look nothing like the 3? Bards wife and team all look nothing like him nor did the loads of saiyans in the Bard movie. I always figures that excuse was just kinda a cop out for the fact that honestly they reused Gokus design a lot some of the main cast even look the same. It's the reason why people say Gohan and Yamcha look alike, they just have the same hairstyle but most of them are one hairstyle or face scar away from being identical.

Actually, it would make sense of them looking similar if the low-class breeding program was canon, because they'd just happen to have come from the same genetic stock or even the same 'parents.' Because Saiyans are so primitive, they'd likely have a system of mandatory sperm harvesting for 'ideal' males, and females that aren't fit to fight become birth mothers, whose only job is to be pregnant all the time. In this case, there would actually be a decent chance for Saiyans to share at least one parent with someone in their same unit, and many in their generation would have similar traits like hair, eye shape, nose shape, and so on, similar because of the stringent rules on the 'ideal' low-class male the elite want to propagate. Too weak and they're useless, too strong and they're a threat. Bardock would have likely been qualified to give birth with Gine at one point, but then was ridiculed when his second son was much weaker than Raditz at birth (since we know Saiyan infants are scanned right away for starting power levels). Hell, that could have even demoted him to be 'low-class' on its own, where he was 'middle-class' prior.

Fun fact, wukong was birth from one of 4 rocks that had absorb energy. Another monkey was also born the same way. Unlike wukong in the beginning, this one was calm and well mannered and in its lifetime, had done many good deeds that allowed him to ascend to heaven after it died. Wukong learned immortality because of his fear of death and became arrogant but his journey to the west allowed him to grow and ascend to godhood. The other monkey didnt understand why wukong gets special treatment after all the bs things he done and was given a chance to ascend once his journey is done while he had to work hard to do so thus he became corrupt and believe he was better suited to replace wukong. In the story wukong defeated/killed his corrupt counterpart which eventually reincarnated into the next life as a monk and ascended once more because in this new life he had already relinquished his jealousy and only focus on doing good deeds again

The 3rd one I'm not too sure 🤔 kind of forgot that one as it's backstory but I remember it wasn't too glamorous. Depending on the folklore the 4th monkey was born as well but other lore say it's a dud. All-in-all Wukong and the Six-Eared Macaque are the popular 2 as its a tale of brother monkeys whose powers are on equal level.

The real reason was because in the early versions of the film, Turles was literally Goku from another dimension, of course this was obviously scrapped, but they kept the design around, as the concept for the movie was likely to have Goku fight an evil counterpart from the very beginning and Turles’ design still worked fine for that

Myth I remember when that movie came out was he was related. Like an uncle, cousin, even brother. Even tho raditz had much longer hair, he resembles vegeta more. Of course at this time it was before bardock showing up (which made it even worse cause how he looked like bardock as well) while every saiyan looked different. More I think about it the more annoyed I am. Like they killed raditz off and show no sign of any interest of bringing home back, turles wasn’t canon yet so it’s like perfect to bring back and make him a brother.

I like that in the Manga DRAGON BALL MINUS Tullece was in fact Raditz best friend. When Goku was born, Raditz still as a kid was competing in a fight to set himself as a warrior. Tullece also as a kid was on ring side cheering Raditz on, with the latter getting pummeled, so Tullece decided to create a distraction that allowed Raditz to win. When Bardock returned to Planet Vegeta, he had spoken to his wife Gine, and she directed him to go to see Goku in the incubator tube. Bardock crosses path with Raditz and Tullece, and both excited tell him about Raditz win. Bardock congratulates Raditz and gifts him his arm bands. The three see Goku in the incubator, and soon after Raditz and Tullece have to leave for their first mission. During the destruction of Planet Vegeta, Raditz and Tullece are getting their butts handed to them, and in the fight an attack really messes them up. We see Tullece unconscious, apparently or possibly dead (but I think he is unconscious), Raditz does an attack to the creatures they were fighting against, though I can't remember if he defeats them or Vegeta as a kid and Nappa rescue him. But we see the three of them talking about the destruction of Planet Vegeta, as they leave we still see that Tullece is on the floor unconscious or possibly dead.

i think it's possible Turles statement that all low-level Saiyans look the same is, simply: a lie. if Toei themselves state that they design them to look similar so that Turles would be a dark reflection of Goku: Goku if he took a different path. and we also see in universe multiple low-level Saiyans that look different from each other and from Goku. i think it's likely he made the lie up. also considering he's a villain, & villains tend to lie. the only question, then, is: why? why do they look similar (in universe)? and why would he make up such a lie? to both i simply do not know.

They should have it come out that he's gokus distant cousin, and actually has the latent ability to go super sayajin. Then gets wished back where he witnesses some one he cares for die, causing him to go legendary but turn good. Then in a future arc there's a double fusion where him and goku fuse, and vegeta and broly fuse. Then they fuse again and become the warrior known a "HIM".
