In today's video we discuss Toriyama's Geezer Goku. In it, we discuss the concept of an old saiyan and why Goku nor Vegeta will never grow old. This is also due to the introduction of Dragon Ball Daima and the potential for Goku to become an angel while Vegeta becomes a god of destruction.

I recall Vegeta mentioning the rapid aging of Saiyans takes place around 80. But then with Goku who knows. The elder kaioshin revived him with his remaining lifespan. Which by his count was around 1000 years. For all we know, that life span was added to Goku.

Face value that’s how it would appear. However since Dragon Ball super took the light that the elder Kai Ocean gate to go food that’s no longer a factor. I just believe it’s go to Destiny because he’s a pure hearted Warrior to transcend into immortality on his home to his good deeds and fighting on top of his Saiyan genetics.

One thing that has always fascinated me about this old-man Goku concept is how Goku being given the Old Kai's life to be alive is just never brought up as any sort of plot point and is like just kind of forgotten. Goku did not come back to life via the DBs or by Whis, the Old Kai literally died and made Goku come back to life. Now Old Kai as a kaioshin that too 15 generations back is at least 75 million years old given that Shin has been around for at least 5 million years himself. Now we don't really know how exactly the Old Kai managed to die and make Goku alive but if it was actually a swap of life force, then Goku potentially has the lifeforce of a Kaioshin and can live for thousands or even millions of years.

all depends on what Toriyama will think up in the future. but i just can't see Goku take up an Angel position because it would mean he can only sit back and watch. which isn't his style since he can't stand seeing innocent creatures get hurt. all i can see them do is something similar to GT's. since you can't have DB without Goku in some way or form.

Goku will probably be granted a special position by Grand Priest. It will also be a good reason why Goku takes Uub with him to train him so he can protect Earth while Goku is gone.

Also the whole idea of requiring to be neutral to become an angel is exactly what Goku is. He doesn't see evil in the same way unless it is directed at his friends & family. He used to be more heroic in that sense, especially against beings like Frieza who he knew had cause deaths of countless beings. But now with everything that has happened with DBSuper, he has clearly moved away from caring what an evil being could do and mostly only cares about their strength. As an example he left Frieza alive and he's out there in the galaxy causing havoc as we see in the Broly movie. Conquering planets and systems. That said he does seem to understand the blight of others around him, but it has made Goku quite an unrelatable character since DBSuper. And mostly it's because we will never again see a villain in Dragon Ball that would straight up kill any of Goku's family or friends. Jiren was close, but there will never be a villain like Frieza who would push Goku's "neutrality" over the limit.

I've always thought Dragon Ball Super's story would've been a lot better if the main character wasn't Goku. For example, if it was Goku Jr. from GT's ending, that would've been a lot better. It would've made Goku's weird lack of knowledge and getting schooled and accepting his Saiyan heritage and those retcons a lot better. Those things I didn't like, but they may have been interesting character traits for a successor to Goku, but not the Goku as we originally knew him.

Well if Goku doesn't grow old it can be very easily explained imo. Goku had his life brought back in the Buu Saga by taking the Elder Supreme Kai remaining lifespan. Old Kai said his lifespan was about 1,000 more years, so Goku more than likely has those years the Elder Supreme Kai had. This would make Goku pretty much immortal if he had all those years added to his life, thus he'd would stay young.

It's genuinely crazy how a titanic franchise like Dragon Ball cannot be bothered to produce a coherent writing and power scaling for their show. Their power scaling literally goes off the scales even in early DBZ, and is quite bonkers by the end of it. But Super....oh man, that's a whole new definition of bonkers. Because of this scaling, they have leapfrogged entire universes of possibilities, and have now gotten themselves into a proverbial dead end of writing. Furthermore, they aren't even introducing that many new characters. How many times are we going to see Vegeta surpassing his bounds due to pride? How many times will Goku break all limits? How many times will Gohan unlock his potentials? How many new hair colors for transformations? Franchise is being milked so hard, and they don't even try to hide it.

Saiyan genetics seem to be dominant over human genetics this would imply that over tens of thousands of years Saiyans would be reborn on earth even if hybrids it is shown at the end of gt that "hybrids" who are just 1/64 Saiyan according to mendel or in the 7th generation can transform into Supersaiyan. A counter argument would even when Saiyan genetics are always dominant over humans there still would be a dilation over time cause due "Spleißing" and "Recombination" Saiyan genetics should dissolve over time into the human gene pool.

So basically Saiyans stay youthful until their 70s or so, then age starts catching up rapidly. I agree that we probably won't see an old Goku, but I doubt he would ever become an Angel. Remember, Angel's generally aren't allowed to fight anybody, so that wouldn't suit Goku at all. He'd never agree to it. More likely that they just won't go past EoZ in the timeline and maybe they'll do a reboot at some point.

It will not end at EOZ. Especially it’s been confirmed DB will keep on going beyond ten years probably. Broly and Super hero movie did well and DBS characters are selling well on video games and mobile games.

You maybe dont see the details... but imo in DBS he is clearly older. Compare Goku at end of OGDB and Goku in DBS, its clear he is older and even character in verse noticed this because when he turned SSG he did become younger while in SSG form. Even characters like Caurifura noticed he is old, calling him old man. Even with all of your calculations Goku still has good 20 years or so. Pan will be a full fledged adult before Goku starts turning gray. Thats enough for an entire new series and more in between now and then. You cna fit two DBZ timelines (no time skip after Buu) into that and if you exclude 8 year time skip even more content.

Making the consideration of the GT ending is kinda wrong in my opinion.. Even we don't consider the fact that it's not canon, Goku dies at the end of the show and after his death he might have gotten into his usual age and never aged from there while being in the heaven. Other than that the multiple times he died and stayed in the heavens to train with King Kai or the times he used the Time Chamber we can clearly say that his age is wrong if we have to count it only by the years passed from his arrival.. And from what we know Whis probably able to stop Goku's and Vegeta's aging too just for his own fun. He has to be neutral but he also is training them into possible gods of destruction or at least into someone who can do Beerus' job better than him.
