If Gohan and Krillin attacked Frieza and his men the first time they saw them (Solar Flare and killed Frieza first along with his two henchmen with a Destructo Disk right before Dodoria was going to kill Dende), they would have all died for sure. At that point Frieza had no idea they even existed, let alone what they could do. And they would have been so off guard by the Solar Flare and shocked by what was even happening, that they'd all be dead while still trying to process what the heck is going on. They really could have saved the day on their own right there if Krillin chose to do that. I mean sure Vegeta is on the planet, but he would die to Nail with ease without the boost he got from Zarbon to get him in the Ginyu Force range, so he too would die. It is a negative outcome though since no Super Saiyan, meaning they're all dead to the androids.

Something I talked about with Mike a bit is the idea that power is adaptive in the series. All head Canon to explain the way the show is written of course. But saiyans and to a lesser extent everyone else seem to get around as strong as the strongest power they've experienced up to that point, maybe due to their transformative abilities. Sort of as though the character is seeing how their ki behaves and then trying to replicate it. In this case, Gohan has the potential and physiology to play catch up to Recoome or Vegeta or Freiza as he experiences their power. Prior saiyans never fought someone beyond a PL range in the thousands. Once Freiza showed them what they could do without killing them, zenkais let them duplicate that ki rapidly. All head canoning of course.

I have a huge question, when they heard that they would all die from the Androids in 3 years, why did they not gather and use the DragonBalls those three times. Once each year. Three wishes For the first wish, they just had to make Piccolo immortal. Then the DragonBalls would never disappear because Piccolo can't die Second wish, they could have found the location of Dr Gero lab. Even if they didn't defeat him early they could have still used the knowledge of where it was located Third wish, they could have done something crazy like wish to have Gohans powers awoken, or to Goku be immune to the Heart Virus

First, Piccolo already had a similar wish granted to him, eternal youth, i guess the dragon can't grant him another wish similar to that. Yes is suck, he will never age but he can die. (Piccolo Daimaku got this wish granted to him in the OG dragon ball, Piccolo junior is his reincarnation so most likely he got this wish transfer to him, as we all know Piccolo is both a reincarnation and a offspring of Piccolo Daimaku) Second, Goku and Vegeta made it clear to Bulma to not interfere with Dr. Geros plans because they wanted to fight this androids. Yes they have the warmongers sayan genes after all. Third wish, there things Shen Long can't do, i guess those two are good examples, either because someone else already did that with Gohan, Guru did it, and the second have not manifest and is an unknown "virus" to him so he can't stop what he can't know. Unless they use the dragonballs when the symptoms manifest? but i believe this was not a disease, let make it clear, Goku was a low class warrior, but his sheer effort got him where he at, however his body is weak, maybe this was not a virus but a cardiac condition he develop for his harsh training and so a natural cause of death in which case Shen long can't interfere. Shen long can't revive someone who die of natural causes. Maybe that medicine Bulma did where nano bots who repair the damage in his coronary arteries or his heart to make them stronger and not an "antidote" for a virus? Darn, so many questions...

@@QaamansLand I am an old youtube guy and I am probably close to your age (27) So I think it goes to show how the platform aged. I can see two classic I guess formulae used here. 1. There isn't an overuse of jumpcuts, overlays and other visual effects to make it seem cluttered (or sometimes pop, I am sure if you watch Carthu's Dojo, you can know that it is not how you lay out everything in the video, but how to make it cut through seemlessly.) 2. It feels a bit more grounded. Nowadays, we talk about Super and Gohan Beast, and Orange Piccolo. Now, I have warmed up to Super of the years, especially after Toriyama's passing and I can appreciate toyataro's creativity in ways toriyama simply would have never. I think what matters here is that, my thesis is "Gohan being over hundreds of times stronger in Namek saga makes perfect sense in past and preent context, and we should talk about how this impacts his character/development" Anyway, wish you the best! This took a while because I had to kind of think what made it different. I still watch new and old channels for Dragon Ball, so it is not a 'I think this is better' thing.I think it is just 'more simple and nostalgic' kind of thing.

Interesting idea but it seems there is something more unique about Gohan other than being half saiyan. Both Trunks and Goten (and ig Pan but we haven’t seen enough of her yet) are half saiyans but their powers are not nearly as based on their emotions as Gohan. The whole Namek era takes place over like 6 or 7 weeks. 1 month for Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma to get there. Then they call for Goku’s help right away I’m pretty sure. Then it takes Goku like 6 days to get there. And everything from Goku arriving on Namek, to Namek exploding, all happens in the same day, over like a 4 or 5 hour period. Maybe even more crazy is how Goku trained his whole life for 24 years for a power level of 400, to then go to a power level of 150,000,000, or 3 million base power within just a little over a year. The explosivity and constant exponential growth of Gohan's power was one of the 'always just out of focus' elements that were built beautifully to him being the one to defeat Cell. I actually feel like we never really saw how powerful 'Perfect' SSJ Gohan was, while he powered up enough to peak Cell's interest (which'd definitely say he was generating more power than Goku) he's clearly not actually that invested in the fight and when Cell's trying to provoke him there's a moment when he 'snaps', not in the usual explosive Gohan manner just more a "that hurt!" kinda thing, and a single blow from him is enough to drop Cell and keep him down for a moment. Okay, sure Cell's not using his full power at that time but it's more from a single physical hit than Goku managed without a massive Ki blast.

I always thought it would be an interesting idea for Gohan to have a similar mutation to Broly on his Saiyan side with his human side having a dampening affect on how out of control he gets. Also as i see it, Gohan got his power unlocked by Guru but also officially 2 Sekais, both in Namek, first one, when he fight Rikum and got a senzu and later when he fight Frieza in his second form and restore by Dende. I don't think got any when he fight Napa and when he fight Vegeta as he was not near dead, in the first one Goku arrive in time and in the second he was just extremely tired because the long battle. All three of the saiyans went from the ten thousands to the millions within a few zenkai’s. Goku much more than gohan or vegeta since he was abusing them on the way to namek. Never use filler for scaling. By fillers standards, Yamcha, not only never fought again post getting one shot by Gero (except getting decimated by the Cell jrs), and didn't train in between as far as anyone knows, was all of a sudden able to one shot Olibu, who gave weighted Pikkon a better fight than SPC. SPC was also stated in the anime guide to be stronger than ever. Speaking of Olibu, apparently base Goku was above SPC in the tournament and then dropped back down even in the anime to his SSJ2 being the only form he surpassed Gohan in. So either Cell Games Gohan was between 50-100x SPC (let's be real here, he wasn't) or the filler scaling goes Cell Games Yamcha

(Remember, no Senzu beans from the second one means a longer healing process and a great time for the Zenkai for work) Then, the power up from Guru before nearly dying at Recoome, then Senzu Bean. Later, Frieza laid the hurt on him before Dende healed him. Yeah, 1000 times is very easy to imagine. Low balling it at 1000… also within the realm of possibility.

I think that since Gohan is half saiyan, half human. Gohan's rage fits are boosted by adrenaline in those intense fights. I don't know maybe adrenaline could play a factor in toughness, tolerance and force, sometimes speed.

Actually he may have gotten a lot more stronger than a 1000X Power levels are not linear as Vegeta who can destroy a planet has a power lvl is 18k while a regular human is 5. 18k/5 humans are not going to be enough to get to planet level. Meaning the bare minimum 1000 times increase Gohan got might be a lot larger than it seems based on power levels being seemingly non linear.

1. Powerlevels always mattered. Theres been maybe one case in the entirety of DB and DBZ where someone with a lower powerlevel beat a higher one. They balloned rapidly but the rules still applied 2. Zenkai boost has always been a thing in DBZ and never stopped being a thing even in the Buu Saga and to deny their DEFINITIVE existence is intellectual negligence. At every opportunity for a boost to occur, they did. Zenkai boosts are relative to the opponent and Androids have no chi so they cant provide Zenkai boosts

I think that says it all Vegeta himself, before arriving on Earth, told Nappa that Metis Sayens would be uncontrollable and would far surpass pure Sayens. and despite this knowledge, vegeta has always been shocked by gohan, whether when he arrived on earth, on namek, facing cell, and he would surely have been shocked if he had witnessed gohan ultimate facing super buu ( even goku was shocked ) All this to say that even vegeta, who had warned that Metis Sayens were far too dangerous, a mixing saiyan and earthling blood like gohan has always far surpassed anything he could have imagined.

To me is already insane that Vegeta could be pair with Frieza in his first form. That can't be just zenkai boost going from 18k on Earth, to around 25k against Zarbon, then 40k against the Ginyus, and after that blow'd up to 500k??. OR Vegeta (and then Gohan) learned untelling us how to unleash the secret saiyans power (Ozaru) without transform, maybe imitating Goku's kaioken, OR Frieza always bluffed about his power level and was way lower than 530.000 and 1 million, that could've been those forms maximum (possible even thinking that if Frieza was always on 530.000 all scouters would be exploded in his presence.)

Vegeta was still a lot weaker than Freeza there, he only grappled with him and was quite winded afterward and Freeza didn't really break a sweat. He could have been 400000+ since he swatted Freeza's beam away.
