Vex Slayer Earth's Dragon Balls had already revived him once before, so they can't do it again. Since they have a limit on how many times they can bring people back to life. Also, Earth's Dragon Balls have never been able to heal life threatening illnesses.

It's possible that Goku could have succumbed to the effects of the virus within a matter of hours after the symptoms showed.
