Fat Buu + Hercule's relationship growth was incredible The expansion of the Celestial mythos was slight but meaningful and not freakin unnecessarily convoluted like Super Super shouldve expanded on what was already there instead of creating God of Destructions annd angels and zeno and all that nonsense that destoyed the entire canon of the show

The way Goku introduces himself to his son is honestly perfect in terms of characterization. He just simply walks up to him, tells him his name and says hi, which perfectly fits Goku’s honest and straightforward personality. He doesn’t try to influence Goten by telling him "Hey I’m your dad!", he just says who he is like he would for anyone else and let’s Goten make the first move. Now THAT’S great character writing, and it’s unfortunate that this is technically a filler scene considering that it doesn’t happen in the manga…

It's a heartwarming scene. Goku reunites with his friends, all in tears of joy as they see him back. Goku also reunites with his wife and sees a small child behind her. Goku already knows it's his son, and as the joking but caring person he is, calls him a "little me". Then the child looks at Goku and says "I'm Goten". Instead of using the bleak "I'm your Dad", Goku says his name. Goten takes a minute to realize that this is his father - his father who he hadn't gotten to meet before. What a joyful scene.

Goku meeting Goten was the emotional climax of this scene, but where it starts to really get to me.....is Bulma. She and Goku were the first. She's known him longer than all of them, and seeing her dearest friend she thought she would never met again, she isnt just happy. She is in awe. "....It's him..." You know Goku really is that guy when even the demon/slug man who vowed to kill him over 20 years prior has a huge grin on his face and is excited to see him. Not to mention his 3 best friends since leaving his grandpa's house on the mountainside all those decades ago. Krillin, Bulma, and Yamcha all with tears in their eyes. It's the later part that gets me after they get done eating and Vegeta casually jokes about punching Goku right in the gut. All these characters have come a long way since meeting Goku. I wish Tien and chaotzu had at least come to the tournament to see Goku. Crazy how some of these characters started out as rivals of his and are now his family. It's the psychology of the adopted person who always felt out of place.....making people your family. And yes they still bicker to this day but in truth Vegeta sees Kakarot as a brother. I bet he was just as glad to see him without that halo on his head bc his rival has no excuse not to be his buddy now.
