As you said, I think he drops a lot of weight for the category. He blows hot and cold in competitions so I am guessing that if the weigh-in is on the day before the competition then he has a chance to rehydrate and recover. If the weigh-in is on the same day this may explain why he does not perform well in some competitions. Regarding the Israeli style I notice a similarity with them all in that they place an emphasis on attacking on both sides almost equally. There 'weaker' side tends to look a bit stilted to me and not as fluid as the, say, Japanese. Thanks for the video upload. Great.

A Judoka from Kazakhstan = Kazakh Judoka The surname is Shamailov, same root as Shamilov and Shmuelov. The common root is the Hebrew name Shmuel, the name of one of the prophets in the Bible, and it is popular at post-Soviet Muslim (Tatarstan, AZE, TJK, KAZ, KRG etc) population, as well as Caucasian and Bucharian Jews.

イスラエル柔道は片襟と両袖が好きな選手が多いと思います。後あまりしっかり組まない。大外落とし→背負いまたは袖釣りは標準装備かと。阿倍兄妹、フォンセカ、スラマニッゼ(今回の100キロ優勝者)に似た柔道かと。シュマイロフはかなり違うタイプですが。。。

israeli judo, from what ive seen, is extremely tight and conservative. they make small adjustments to set up big, high reward throws- mostly revolving around physicality to scrap around their not so perfect technique.

C'est un judo avec des aptitudes de lutte. ce sont les nouvelles regles qui formalisent un autre judo. Par exemple, dans le passé, en competition le travail au sol etait inexistant. De toute façon, l'arbitre relevait immédiatement les combattants.En 50 ans de judo, je n'ai jamais vu une clé, ou un etranglement, et c'est pourtant là que le travail est le plus dure et necessite plus de techniques que debout ou ce sera surtout des transferts d'equilibre. Il etait plus important dans le passé d'etre souder au sol en bougeant le moins possible.Maintenant, la necessité d'actions sous peine de pénalité a changer tout ce qu'on connaissait des combats en competitions. Le judo de Smailov est précurseur. Et tous vont devoir s'y mettre...

@@justingeneral3078 So, if you look at players like Shmailov and Sasson, youll see that they grip pretty tight. I'm not saying that other israeli players dont- I have just noticed it with these two the most. They dont extend, no reaching, generally pretty safe and what I call conservative judo. Not standing up super straight (not so classical), however they have their wits about them and are looking for that "big grip." Upon entry, they are EXTREMELY explosive and are looking to get that big score. that big score, however, comes at a huge cost- being the energy it takes to pull it off. israeli players are really really strong physically, paired with the constant "run you down" sort of 'continuation mindset'... and i think thats what drives uke through the throw. If the opponent has really good hips and can defend throws exceptionally well- I think thats where the israeli fighters' scrappiness comes in. i think they can pull at least a cheap score off of a scrap because of their physicality. They look for the big, highlight reel throws- but they never forget about those cheap scores. This is what ive seen personally, and this is how i view israeli judo. I think this combination of tactics is why theyre so prone to being the "big upset" in a bracket. A style of judo that not too many other countries care to dive into, but works for Israel.
