I just stumbled on your video today. This will be the fourth one I’ve washed in a row. I did a little gold panning in Idaho back in the 60s with my dad. Later on in life I tried it with my kids but I never found any gold to speak of. Of course I was told by somebody there was a little bit of gold dust in the bottom of my thimble size bottle. Probably wasn’t even true. Anyway very interesting keep up the videos I’ve really enjoyed them. Maybe I’ll give it a try again one day.

If it was four 9’s pure then that was about $1,000. But it’s not so probably around $800. He only showed a glimpse of the backside of that button and it looked nasty. 3 men and that equipment, he needs more than that. If he could process 3 tons per day he would be making bank.

Question. Why don't you throw all the stuff from bucket 1 and bucket 2 over the vibrating table again? It seems to me that you can clean all the gold from the sand if you put all the material back on the vibrating table. Two three times and the gold will be pure.

Hey Jason. The barrier to entry even in a small operation like this is just too great for most artisanal or small miners. Everybody seems to have lots of ore but the cost to process it is time consuming and money consuming. The people and groups that buy your equipment should be some sort of consortium, like the old day. Somebody owns the equipment and you bring in your ore and put it through the process for a fee. probably make more money than mining the gold itself. A flat per ton fee.......

Hey sorry one more tip I’ve seen mills each hammer has a rubber washer made with tire tubes some have bought neoprene but it doesn’t work as well and the reason is that the rubber actually cuts down on vibration or the harmonics and it will cause the hammers and all the other mill parts to wear much slower. I get this is a comment insinuating it’s a opinion. However doing this will cut down on wearing components and mill much faster better and cleaner. However the rubber that’s added cannot bind the hammers they still need to be free moving. Having these rubber washers type pieces on both sides of each hammer and not preventing it free motion will greatly increase your production of its task. Believe it or not it’s simple and worth a try. It will save you so much. Vibration or the wrong resonance will have a huge negative effect.

The strength in wood framing is in compression. We stack one piece on another. The only time we hang a piece by the end is if it sits in a hangar made for that purpose. Around 5 minutes it is clear that the whole weight is hanging on a couple of screws. Put blocking under the rails, not just in the side. By the way. Nails are way stronger than screws. Screws break often just from vibration and the wood swelling and shrinking.

I was impressed with the efficiency of the jaw crusher. Good Old Fashion American Hard Work, Something that today’s youth could benefit from, if they only tried. Not to say all American youth are lazy, but from the look of things from where I work, some are, when you give them an easy task, they look at you as if you had two heads. I hate to sound corny, I would have to start one of my “When I Was Your Age...Etc” stories, just hoping that they can form an understanding, but like always, it just goes over their heads.

If you can run your pulley horizontal one side can function as a in while the other side an out. Slow motor outside. Might have to run a line in for a remote stop start. Plus you can wax your 2x4s to reduce friction

Just thinking out loud here.... but for safety, I think one of the best investments you could make would be some LIGHTING for inside the mine. Then, install a small winch system at the adit. You could run both on a generator of sorts. I mean, you could either get a small generator for your truckbed and charge up some car batteries in your truck on the way to the mine, then transport the batteries up your tram system each time you work at the mine, or better yet, bring a small gas generator with battery backup TO the mine and run it just outside the adit and run wires down into the mine for lights, and plug the winch direct into a 12V port. That way you aren't worried about fumes from the combustion of gasoline or the sound. And you have a slow steady pull for the ore carts and lighting througout. LED lighting would use far less juice vs. incandescent.

I'd love to see you send a bucket of ore sent down by lifting two or more buckets of water. Harvest the energy stored in the rocks that are uphill and moderate the descent of the ore with a counterbalanced uphill load, is what I mean. You could pull equipment up the hill with descending ore too I think. Might even ride up on a cart powered by downhill ore and gravity.

Can you reverse the direction of rotation on the mill and avoid the hammer flipping operation?
@NET-POSITIVE3 жыл бұрын
Install water injection sprayers above the hammers the prevent the build up on the walls of the mill. The water now in entering at too low of a depth in the mill and will come to a trickle when build up is too much.
@buckstarchaser23764 жыл бұрын
That same Teflon technology comes in wheel bearing form, so you don't have to slide your stuff on kiln-dried pine, hoping to prevent the effects of degradation over the off season. Also, for your bucket-decending system, use a large-diameter axle, fixed so it won't rotate, and wrap your control rope around it a few times. This will give you low-stress control over it, and you won't have to worry about it obliterating the cab of your truck. The wraps around the axle will multiply whatever friction you put on your end. This system also works in reverse, if the axle is spun. You just pull on the rope, this causes it to grip the axle (capstan, I think it's called), and the axle provides the bulk of the pull, but under your easy control.

It would be nice to do this for a day/weekend with some my friends (like a camp but for gold mining). do you rent out a spot to mine and the machines to process the ore for the day(start to finish/ ore to button)? If not, do you plan on doing something like this in any time soon/know of a place that does this? also, i think it would be a nice way to diversify your income streams during low times, just a thought.
