Digging out our gold mine for the 2021 mining season! At the start of every year we dig out the snow covering our road to get back into our mine. We are now all dug out and ready to go mining. Bit of trivia, in WW2 some gold mines were closed because the government deemed it nonessential and counterproductive to wartime manufacturing efforts. Gold mining often didn't resume after the war for various reasons. Sometimes because they were already borderline profitable/unprofitable, and it wasn't considered worth it to restart them. Some were deep mines that required regular maintenance, like water pumping and shoring, so they were unsafe by the end of the war.

We just bought the California Mine along with the Arizona and Bachelor claims outside of Republic Washington. We have the rock crusher with a smaller crusher (for the time being) ready to go with the shaker table not so ready because of four to five feet of snow here in our parts. Our plan is to build a shed around the shaker table and heat the shed and the water source but we keep getting dumped on - I mean feet of snow at a time. It's all keeping up let alone making headway. The property with the mine awaits spring.

I was an OSHA inspector for 8 years. You guys are breaking so many safety hazards. I worked in manufacturing factories. Maybe it’s different for outside. I don’t know. All should have safety glasses on, all should have face masks.. these are just things you should do that are smart.

Don t forget the Orange vests, steel toe boots, orange safety cones, yellow lines painted on the paths, smoke detectors, a flagman to warn of buckets coming down the hill, handrails inside and outside the mine, safety belts and lanyards. Oh and don't forget the fire extinguisher in case someone drops their doobee. Osha is a joke and one of the reasons we've lost manufacturing to China

I wonder how well it would work if you put the generator 'into' the Shaker Table and use Engine Vibration for the table motion requirements. This would work particularly well with a Hydraulically Driven Electric Generator so you can set the Engine Speed that you need for the Shaker Table. I may have that last part wrong but you see what I am talking about. Use the waste from one system to enrich the next.

As far as the term “silicosis” being used, … please, understand that any disturbance of dry, earth, can cause this dreadful disease, … it causes, & has been proven to show, that breathing any type of disturbed powdered earth content, mixed with varying levels of our atmosphere, causes what doctors refer to as “silicosis”, as well as exposure to other “cancerous” types of diseases, … for example, black lung, and mesothelioma, the result of mining asbestos, … I qualified through the school, in Madisonville, Ky, of underground mining, back in 1982/83, (where mining western Kentucky coal, was also being removed, both through underground, & surface mining), … but never was able to become employed underground, … surface mining has the same, (if not more so), hazards, with the exception of being exposed to injury/death by roof falls, … although, the face of any type of mine can inherently dangerous, as well as any side walls, … In retrospect, that probably saved my life overall, … and I’ve reached the youthful young age of being 3 months short of becoming 68 years old, … but with that being said, I wonder what are the residual effects of using water, to extract the gold, via sluice, … are the tailings not responsible for leaching undesirable/hazardous chemicals from the bedrock?

You need to turn the exhaust weather head around on the truck mounted engine. You are running a chance of filling the engine with water when driving in rain.

I was thinking a generator and electric winch but I think you could be right, if you have ores at different stages the weight of the buckets going over the cliff should offset the weight of pulling up from the mine.

At the least you could use the weight of the ore buckets to bring the empty buckets back up to the mine entrance. In fact anything that weighs less than the ore can be brought up like this. Fred Dibnah used to take down chimneys like this. When he wasn’t filling the bottom with tyres and lighting them on fire with diesel that is!

You should think about getting a small chain hoist on a boom or a jin pole for the back of the truck. Lifting everything on and off by hand gets really old. Harbor freight had nice hitch lifts pretty cheap.

Interesting how you and your small crew basically do everything like a regular mine just scaled down and simplified somewhat. Are you a Geologist or? At mines I worked everyone basically had a specialty and, though there was alot of interlap, people generally just did their particular job. Geologists, lab technicians, management, mechanics whatever. People usually knew abit about others jobs and would swap sometimes etc but, generally stuck to their expertise. Kinda neat seeing how you all do abit of everything to bring it all together. 👍

I would want at least an ounce per ton. I watched a show from australia and they were getting about 2 oz per ton, this was in the victoria region but the old timers would hit hot spots that had up to 11 oz per ton but you wonder if it was just a cluster of nuggets.I saw some of the biggest nuggets in history , some were over 100 lbs real high grade stuff but the ones from brazil look terrible , one is named the cow pie ... it looked like one too , these nuggets were brownish didn't even look like gold .Keep up the good work , it's very interesting !! Now adays you're lucky to get a nugget more than a few ounces but there's still some big ones ,A huge one was found in 2014 in CA just 2 inches down with metal detector , stuff dreams are made of . I'm in IL NO AU HERE , BUMMER. Just dreams .

Just found your channel, very interesting. I worked for DFC Ceramics in Canon City Colorado. I started off as a press operator making crucibles. Then went into the furnace shop and started making Fire Assay Furnaces. Ran the furnace shop for approximately 6 years, worked there approximately 7 yrs. We also made a high temp version for Stillwater Mine in Columbus Mt., so they could process thier polatium/platinum group metals. I made 802 Cupelation furnace, up to the 815L model that would handle 36, 40 gram crucibles at a time. The L in 815L stands for long chamber. Have you ever built a model that factors in expenses and projects the concentration that you need or the amount of material that you would need to process to turn a profit? If you have not done so and you have the costs available I would like to give it a shot. It would be interesting to understand what someone would need in order to break into this business. I am a pricing analyst and do this for a living, just in fintech though, not mining/commodities. I think it would be a fun side project and I’m happy to share what I find and iterate based on you feedback. That's not unusual to see in that area. Those mountains are in a weather convergence zone, warm wet southern winds meet Arctic air flowing down the Fraser River canyon and proceed to dump really enormous amounts of snow. How much snow? The Mt Baker ski lodge recorded 95 feet of snow during the 1999 season, a world record. That mine is probably only accessible for 8-12 weeks of the year, and maybe not at all some years.

Damn, those are some big Dore Balls you got there XD The Lead is mostly absorbed into the Cuppelle rather than Driven Off, although there is some telltale white fumes from the oven. I worked in an Analytical Lab doing Gold Assay work and we rarely saw a Dore Bead that size. The lab does ICP-OES and GC/MS-MS mostly. [Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy and Gas Chromatograph / Mass Spectrometry if anyone needs to know] Fire Assay is a technique that is falling by the way side as the lab equipment and portable XRF field equipment are getting so damn good.

Buy a Badlands power winch from Harbor freight to haul up your carts. 12 volts ,mount it on your truck or an anchored stand dude.

Hate to be *that guy* but y'all need *both* ear plugs *and* muffs for serious rock drilling. 1:11:30 Dad lost his high notes by mid age just doing muffs and 'accepting a little pain', wasn't even a miner but a manager, far less exposure. Doesn't pay to be tough sometimes. He was underground which is worse but U get the idea. And wear your dang safety glasses!

Just a thought, I watch several abandoned mine explorers on KZbin, it might be a fun adventure and good cross over to bring in a couple of those guys to actually mine with you.
