Gold Monster 1000 , why it’s unsuitable in highly mineralised ground as a general surface search detector. Sure it has its place on bedrock and tailing piles and the like. In fact it’s one of the best detectors for this purpose.
This video is for people with little experience and buying their first gold detector to prospect in highly mineralised gold fields. Why the GM 1000 might be a poor choice.

For this sort of ground would you choose the garrett goldmaster 24k over the gold monster 1000?, i am in the market to buy one of them and the ground where i am is pretty bad, but its hard to choose, if the garrett is the same as the gold monster 1000 in that sort of ground i will think of another machine in my budget, please help me out, thanks and great vids!.

If you want to stick with Garret I would get the Axiom. If that is out of your budget, go with a used ATX. If you want Minelab the SDC2300 will handle this ground. Of course the GPX6000 would be my choice but they are quite pricey, worth it though. Good luck and thanks for the question.. 👍

I actually heard the nugget so many times as you passed by it like a race car driver with the g.m!..i kinda think it frustrates you that its kinda noisy to your liking!..we love that thing here in Arizona!..nice and slow!..your dirt sucks!..but so does ours!😂🌵⛏️🤘

Maybe you did hear the nugget. Remember we knew it was there. The other detector clearly identified it. Imagine if we didn’t and have to cover large areas to uncover the odd random nugget. You don’t have time to go over the same spot multiple times. That’s why a Pi detector is a clear winner in this type of ground. Thanks for your input 👍

Thanks for the video. I’m new to prospecting and I wish I would have seen this before buying my GM. Haven’t used it yet and heading north east soon. Might just enjoy the camping. Totally understand your argument because I’m in WA and know the red mineralised ground you’re talking about. Makes perfect sense to me. Time to save up for a GPX. Looks like all your detractors are not from WA.

I am just trying to save people wasting their time with this machine in WA. It does have a use, if you drop something in the grass and can’t find it🤣. You may find it’s not that bad if your are in the right area. Let’s be honest though, a GPX 6000 costs 7 times more because it’s 7 times better. Gold is hard to find, you need all the advantages you can get. Thanks for the comment👍

Can the gpx 5000 device be suitable for this type of floor or the gpx 6000 device?

Yes, most definitely. The GPX 5000 was one of the main detectors used by gold prospectors in Australia up until quite recently. The GPX 5000 is probably not quite as sensitive on the very tiny nuggets, but it’s more than capable of finding bigger deeper nuggets.

I am not one of your detractors, or fanboys for that matter, but my criticism of this test is only that I think you are comparing apples with oranges. The GM is an entry VLF level detector that is suited for quiet ground/tailing piles/rivers etc, not general ground sweep. The coil is only 5in for gods sake. But as you have pointed out it is only 1/6th the cost. If you've never had a boat before, buy a dinghy first right and be happy with whiting and mullet and gar, and if it is you thing then buy a 16footer and go for snapper and kingfish etc right?

Mate, you are completely missing the point. Exactly what I was saying, you didn’t watch it all the way through or listen to it. I am trying to make people understand that the GM is unsuitable in the heavily mineralised ground in Western Australia. Where it works in the rest of the world is nothing to do with this video. It totally area specific. Going back to your boat analogy. If you want to buy a boat to go in the rough ocean, you don’t buy a dinghy because that’s all you can afford. You either buy a boat that will do the job or you might be making a big mistake. 👍 and thanks for the reply,

The large coil should ground balance better on that ground

The bigger coil will have even more iron the balance out. Ok next time I get the chance I will give it a go. I am prepared to be open minded about getting better results.

Stop using outo 1 or 2 stop bounsing go to 10. Drop sen down to 9.8.7. And look at the screan wether gold orsteel ,do not compare vlf to your 7000 ,i have a monster find lots of gold, you are demonstrating a machene you canot use ,i did not see je bouns the 7000 the way the monster was ,a chap with a 7000 left a deep hole put the monster in it out came a 1gram nugget 😭😭😭😭😭

Bouncing is how you ground balance the gold monster. You don’t bounce the 7000 to ground balance. I used both auto and manual settings. Did I say I was comparing the 7000 to the Gold monster? No, not once. The 7000 was just to prove there is gold in the ground. The gold monster had trouble dealing with the minerals in the ground. You just didn’t understand this video at all.
