Good one Chris. Looks like a nice little spot. If you ever worry about your battery life maybe you could wire in a switch. Seems that all the time you're loosening-up gravels from a big area of ground is using power without processing. But I have zero experience, just a fans musings! Keep up the great work.

On the subject of historical prospecting, I read that many early prospectors arrived on the goldfields penniless and with very little or no equipment. That they used billy cans, fry-pans, pot lids and even shovel heads to pan for gold. As a matter of interest, could you do a video using these makeshift items just to see how effective they are? Cheers mate, keep up the good work and stay safe.

Not sure what $50 Australian compares to US dollars but I've worked some long days busting my knuckles mechanicing for less than that when I was younger, it's still better pay than where I work now without the headache of working in high speed traffic on a toll road .

I've always thought those Batea pans would work well. The cone shape would naturally give gold a place to sink to, while the swirling around would cause the lighter materials to rise up and out of the pan. Good explaining of the terrain and how it built up, you have a lot of knowledge about the history. I appreciate your vids even though I've never panned, or looks likely I'd do so anytime in the future, I enjoy you seeing you and Grizzly have fun doing it.

Well done Chris, yes our Queensland laws are a bit backward so we need to work around it, in saying that it could be a grey area, you can work the active creek bed, so does that mean high water when it floods. Nice gold al the same, going to head on out to Glendon near Warwick soon to get some chunky stuff, it's still there, just gotta put the effort in and get rewarded. I might put a vid up on the tube, I have got 6grammers plus from out there in the sluice, it's good to see that in the box. Would like to get down that way for a look see one day, Chris are mini trommels allowed in Victoria? Cheers Brad

I see you have quickly switched to the batea in the field. I presume that is because of productivity. The conventional pan is still best for cleaning gold I presume?
@VoGusProspecting
@VoGusProspecting 4 жыл бұрын
I cannot overstate just how good the Batea pan is. Even for fine clean up it excels at the job. What I don't trust at this stage is my experience and skill. A regular pan is still needed to do the ultra fine gold clean.
@hardrockuniversity7283
@hardrockuniversity7283 4 жыл бұрын
@@VoGusProspecting Interesting. I will have to get a batea and test it on micro fine gold. Right now I am doing well down to 100 microns, but losing a significant amount below that in the slimes. 65% recovery is not satisfying. I want at least 80% if possible- gravity only. Leaching could do it of course, but the capital investment and permitting are uneconomic for micro scale. I think I'll get there in the end. The tailings only have 15% the concentration of the feed. It's the slimes that are the issue. Keith
