MrDazp1 here lol, thanks for the shout out buddy, I will return the compliment for sure. I know the spot where you were, it is a great place down the Mennock pass - love it to bits. PD knows his stuff alright and no doubt he will always give you good advice. From my experiences, you can run most sluices pretty aggressively and they will catch flour gold but if you build a dam and work the flow until you see the "V" pattern it will work. It also looked level left to right. After a wee while you will know how much to feed a sluice given the flow etc. Keep up the great work and fly the flag for Scotland

MrDazp1 no worries friend thought id better send my subs to see more gold lol i was meant to give the snorkel a try but the water wasnt right plus raining saying that the midges wouldnt have got me under water lol ,what did you think of the area i was trying out crevicing i was meant to get an underwater shot to show you what it looked like ,my knowledge isnt great so always happy to take some advice i hope to get back there soon maybe try down the bottom area Thanks for watching Friend Gl&hh Thor 😊

My opinion on the Mennock is that every inch has been worked by man over the last 1000 years... But it is a stunning place to at be one with nature, Bedrock will always be the key factor to work but because the water courses are so close to the road, every one will have stopped by at some point in time to do a bit of prospecting lol. The valley has a a classic "V" shape to it so why don't you try detecting much much higher with your detector (Places where the river once ran) Play to your strengths - so to speak. Also check out the old Scottish library map website for old mines n' stuff . There have been mini gold rushes all over the the hills north of Moffat.

Love the vid. Takes me back to August 2017 when we panned at the exact same location (within 3 ft of where you showed). I got 5 colours in the 1st hour and then nothing for the next 3 hours. We packed up for the day with the plan to come back in the morning. It rained most of the night and the river was about 2 ft higher and very fast flowing and we had to look elsewhere. There is still gold on that stretch but it has been hammered.

Not to much ken you get smal gold pans in that shop for £12,£15 bottle to pick up gold £4.50 and the wee viles to put it in £2.50 its when you goto sluices it gets expensive ive still not got one im trying to make one They go for like £50 to £150 plus .The one you see here is £85 there pretty good tho and light enough to carry i hope you get a chance to do it its pretty addictive if i was closer id be there all the time i think Hope that helps Ken Gl&hh Thor 😊

To set the sluice up u need to get the water to run in v patterns all the way Down then u will know it is level and have it at about 7° drop.hope that will help👍

Hello mate never been to tyndrum yet i hear its getting hard to do up there tho so i best get out and get up there golds meant to be good if your in the right bit up there i think they dont mind you doing the pine trees upstream from village .That Sluice makes it soo much easier on the back rather than panning every bit you dig just fling it in there and pan whats left i need to get mine made .Thanks for watching friend Gl&hh Thor 😊

Man I would love to visit Scotland.. Some cool mountains... I'm from Virginia.. Not to far from West Virginia and they have road's like this.. One road is a 10 mile drive downhill and you've gotta ride the brakes all the way down and the ride up is real hard Onan engines.. Lol.. You see them broke down a lot..

I dont think its the same map, the one I have is from a study carried out by Glasgow Uni. The map shows the areas they sampled for gold. There are 6 sections of water marked as "Stream Section with abundant alluvial gold" Can you tell me where the shop was that sold the permits and gold pans etc, was it expensive?

Hello friend i think ive seen the survey one too but to be honest its alot of luck unless you know the area well if you get a chance speak to some other panners if you get a chance .And to be honest its not to bad about the same as off ebay im sure they had pans between £10/15 theres a facebook page called gold panning scotland if you write a post on there theres a lady that works there she would be able to tell you more on prices i should have really put it in the vid also .and its wanlockheed the museum is if your coming from m74 its after leadhills and the last right turn before you leave wanlockhead i wish you good luck and some gold On your adventure Thor 😊
