Gold recovery from epoxy transistors : Yield data

In this video i demonstrated gold recovery from epoxy transistors.
There are totally different epoxy transistors available high quality and low quality made transistors.
Usually in low quality made transistors manufacturers have used aluminum to transfer electricity so they don't have any value for precious metals recovery.
In those with higher quality usually the bond wire is made of gold

Transistors seem to be more variable than other components in new technology, specially in household electronics used transistors usually containing aluminum bond wires to conduct electricity, so they are not of value for gold recovery. Transistors with gold bond wires could be found in electronic with precise function, like military grade, telecom and medical instruments... So don't blame yourself if you are getting low yield out of regulator transistors....

Usually yes, voltage regulators of power MOFSET draw high current, for this reason they need gold to pass the current. This is same for old motherboards ddr2/3

Another Good one Picky! Not sure about the blue bowl though? My yields were a lot higher just washing the ash. Still bugger all but a bit bugger all than you got! Keep up the great and interesting work.

Yep, they are very variable. Not really worth the effort financially but still good fun! I just got home and checked my records. I got 1.75 gm Au and 30.2 gm of Ag fro 6.230 Kg.@@Picky_Plans

Interesting from this epoxy model of transistors? To get silver you leached in acid before incineration or you processed whole copper prices after grinding? Thanks for your information mate🙏

I also tested 20 pecs of them on the metalic side, with silver testing solution it was negative (prior nitric leaching)

If that's the case, how do you determine the low quality from the high quality?

From materials you collect them. Modern green PCBs usually have low scores for the possibility of gold content. But for older ones there is more chance to have gold.

At 1122 in video, you had plenty of gold precipitate. (Eventhough you didnt do a second stannous test to verify a completed drop). Then, you show "washed and dried" powder which looks a LOT less than you started with? I loved the home made blue bowl and enjoy your channel. Thanks

What, why? Please use HCL and not nitric to dissolve the tin. Nitric and tin forms metastanic acid. It’s a lot of trouble to dispose of.

It's been done using nitric acid to check the presence of silver both in solder and planting on the transistors.... I found no alternative to check for silver

@@Picky_Plans there’s not every ough silver to justify the costs of disposal there. Youre probably losing more silver in the metastanic acid. It would be easier to just go right to AR and save the silver chloride until you have enough to convert.

Metastannic acid is undeniable even in AR (Nitric acid + HCl mix) , but it would not affect silver recovery in just nitric acid but in AR you would get mixed metastannic acid and silver chloride. To be honest silver in transistors isn't worth considering at all
