My advice is deal with LCS as much as possible. Build a relationship with them. Just the other day I bought a coin from the circulated Morgan bin. I paid $30. Didnt even realize until I got home that it was a Carson City. I've been dealing with the guy for 10 years so I called him and told him. Turns out they knew they had misplaced one that they had in inventory but weren't sure where it went. Being a fairly circulated coin they had inadvertently tossed it in with the common date Morgans. He offered to let me keep it but I said I'd pay him a more fair price. We agreed on a price that's still a good bit under the market value. I got a good deal and he was happy it wasn't a serious loss. Also, with LCS, you have greater privacy and support small business.

That is good advice, coin dealers make mistakes and miss stuff. Even me after having a coin shop for years I still miss stuff because of the volume I deal with

🤔 I'm sticking with silver rounds. Basing my decision on World Reserves, ratio of 17.353 silver to 1 gold. Current ounce gold price of $1,982 ÷ 17.353 = $114.22 silver potential price. Current silver price $25.05 with a potential 400% return, once the world currencies are backed by gold leading to gold MONETIZATION. I'm saving and hedging a bet for hyperinflation 🤑

Maybe, but you lose more than that 9% tax under 2k in capital gains when you do sell for $2000. Plus, buying 1k at a time requires IRS reporting and if SHTF the gov will use that info against us, and they won't want fiat at that point.

As someone in a tax state, it is NOT cheaper outside of state. My friend went to Oregon for a few weeks and looked at a couple coin shops there. Literally everything was the same price (like the tax itself was baked into the premium). I can get a 10th oz phil for $257 ($235+9% tax= $257) here in California, but it was $260 in Oregon without it.

I'm new to stacking, but feel its too late to be worthwhile to buy junk silver or larger bars. In a bater situation the person you buy from will likely have change for 1 oz silver, but might not want to make change for 10 oz or larger bars. If silver is 25 an oz that's like a bit larger than a 20 a ten oz would be a 250 dollar bill. So I'll stick with 1 oz silver rounds...

The soldier should rent a safe deposit box at a nearby bank or credit union. There's probably one on Post within 3 miles of his barracks. He needs to have someone he trusts in his family be on the signature card on case he deploys or something bad happens.
@SmartSilverStacker Жыл бұрын
It's not a terrible suggestion, but I'm not a huge fan of safe deposit boxes for long term storage. Typically the contents are not insured and the bank has little liability if things go missing. Insured allocated storage would be my preference
@ltcrmarsh Жыл бұрын
My basis was an enlisted low ranking single soldier. Their base pay will probably not allow them to buy as much per month, or own quite a very big stash. After 4 or so years, most leave the military for school or a new career. Barracks are subject to health and welfare inspections. I'd hate to see them have to open a safe box to show there was no contraband in it. Word would leak out, and suddenly they would get hit up for loaning money by the other members in that unit(s).

Army stacker: Get a bullion silver that has a serial number on it like a pamp or something so that you can track any theft. Another option is stack 1/10th oz gold rounds that you can stack in a bag. Perhaps go premium on anything that is reasonable that gives you trackable characteristics.

Unfortunately here in Australia if you're buying precious metals from a dealer or one of the mints in amounts of $5000aud ($3388usd) or more you need to show ID and it's reported to the government and when you sell you have to pay 28% capital gains tax, however the purchasing of investment grade metals is tax exempt.
@aussiegirl6738 Жыл бұрын
A lot of places here require no ID if paying cash for under $5k. Buying over is reportable what state are you in? I suggest Ainslie or a imperial in your state there is gst included in price on coins at sale but none on bullion. We mainly collect coins but buy a little small bullion for gifts
@Brendan.H.86 Жыл бұрын
@aussiegirl6738 Yes, I did say that amounts $5000 or more require ID and is reported by the seller by law. I live in Australia, and that's all that strangers need to know(no offence) There is NO gst on investment grade metals, gold 99.99% and silver 99.9%+. Anything with less purity isn't classed as investment grade. Therefore, it attracts gst. I only buy bullion as I have no personal interest in coins and rounds. The bullion I have and will continue to buy won't be sold for at least 20 more years. I do have some Ainsley bullion in my stack along with an assortment of other well-known brands.

Singapore, where I live, does not charge Goods and Services Tax (GST) on bullion precious metals. The definition of "bullion" is important since it does *not* cover, for example, most numismatic coins, a number of sovereign coins or bullion coming from refineries that are not recognised by the LBMA. But for the large majority of what most people would stack, it's pretty good.

For us in Saudi Arabia anything less than 24 karat gold will have VAT as it will be considered jewelry. So, i just stick to 24k gold bars, and 999 silver bars. Premium differs from one store to another of course. However, silver here is not really popular and every time i go to the local store he says “brother, stop buying silver” 😂 i keep buying. The laws in Germany are weird for silver. You either pay 19% tax or you have differential taxation where only the profit margin of the seller is a taxable event. So not knowing this i bought a silver bar with 19% tax on it, together with spread i basiacally paid double the spot price. If you buy silver with differential taxation you only pay tax on a the profit margin of the seller. Silver with differential tax on it is the best way to buy because the resell prices are a lot higher. But 1oz silver is still at least 20% over spot from what i've seen. Gold is easy. There is no tax.

Most folks aren't into metals for a quick high return, as the commentator has frequently expressed. I'm not a Last Vegas gambler, but there is a thing called hedging your bets. Anyone with any intelligence can see the storm clouds gathering, not that I'm claiming that much myself. The most uncertain times I've ever lived in. Hiding under my school desk waiting for a nuclear bomb attack was alot less stressful, but back then we had separation of powers.
