So you could just plug this into a clean power amp and you'd have all the basics of a regular bass amp? A super small class D... say ...that fit into a pedal board? Any recommendations?

Sorry guys I am new to this instrument, what is the purpose of that metal sheet/piece placed on top of the magnets? Doesnt it harder to play ?

it doesn’t make a difference at all, some guys just like how it looks/feels to play with. doesn’t change the sound at all!🤟

The old precisions and jazz basses came with metal covers over the bridge and pickups. It was purely cosmetic. They DO look cool. However, many people want fingering access to those areas, so back in the day players started taking em off, and eventually THAT became the standard way haha

They became known as "ash trays" because so many people took 'em off back in the day and basically ended up using them as ash trays!

I did read once that the original purpose was to shield the pickups from noise and interference and shielding issues. They are purely aesthetic now

Can you use this as a head and run it into a cab?

This is a pre-amp (tone shaper). You can go direct to a mixer/front of house but for a cab you would still need a power amp

You can plug it directly from the 1/4 inch output with a patch cable into a rack mount power amp like a QSC GX3. It sounds amazing!
