I studied the American Civil War for years because I had family members who died on both sides of that conflict. Doug Casey doesn't know what he's talking about. Southern states were terrified that Lincoln would end slavery by stopping its expansion into Western States. Slavery was at the heart of the conflict and anyone who says otherwise hasn't done the work. Lincoln's main goal was to preserve the union, but that's not why the South seceded.

@@theciakilledjfk5973 : I'm not an expert, but I think you're partly right. The civil war was about slavery in part, but not entirely so as many claim. For sure, "slavery" is the easiest and most compact issue to express, so "slavery" is the easiest short justification for the civil war. But there was more to it, and the remnants still exist today ... absent slavery, which *IS* gone. There is similarity with today. Fact is, so-called "government" is fiction and should not exist at all. But most definitely no government should impose laws and rules over people outside a tiny region, because that requires imposing laws and rules on people that they fundamentally and massively disagree with. That's the problem today too. When laws and rules apply only in small areas, people can move to a region where the fundamental laws and rules correspond with their personal beliefs, at least fairly closely. However, when laws and rules apply over hundreds or thousands of miles ... *THAT INHERENTLY CANNOT WORK.* And yet the trend has been towards laws and rules being applied over larger and larger regions ... until we get to the worst possible situation we have today, which is "globalism" and "global government" and "global governance".

Actually, Doug is pretty wrong when he says that the US Civil War was not at all about slavery. Lincoln's main goal was to preserve the Union, but the South seceded in large part because they were convinced that he would end slavery by limiting or stopping its expansion into newly-formed Western States. What a terribly vague and simplistic post. What on earth are you trying to say? 'Western civilisation. Truth." Writing incorrect cryptic sentences doesn't make you sound smart. Quite the opposite. Sounds like you've had some crack with your cornflakes this morning. There are tons of eloquently written books by historians that take a critical view on 'dominant historiography'. I mean, i GUESS that's where you seem to be heading to. Subaltern School of History only been active since last century. Ibadan school of history, too. In fact, most serious historians today would take account of power and discourse in a Foucauldian sense whilst doing research. Maybe read some proper historians instead of sharing simplistic, cryptic messages that only show how little you know of all the critical 'counter narratives' and efforts out there. Maybe start with Fanon's Wretched of the Earth (1961). Written 60 years before you managed to formulate the urgent call that 'we need to get truth in history'.

I have a question for Mr.Casey when he talks about spending what does he consider government spending? In school I learned that government spending was, education, social security, food stamps, public health problems like first five and Medical and Medicare and road management like fixing roads. Because if he thinks cutting these programs needed by millions of people is going to stop a civil war I would ask how? The biggest question I have for Mr.Casey is if the government stop providing these essential services who would replace them? Because as it stands today government support is vital to the economy with thousands of subcontractors who are private companies who hold government contracts including national defense contracts ( which is also considered spending in the classic definition of government spending) by stopping these contracts that will cause millions of dollars of lost income to the economy. How in the world would that be good for America? I just don’t understand how cutting basic education, health and education services would stop a civil war? In my opinion people would be angry that their kids can’t go to school so they can’t go to work, the roads which are bad now would fall apart. Millions more would be out of work. Government is a huge employer by the way.🤷🏿♀️ Please explain to me how to cut government spending by 90% without all these bad things happening and Not starting a civil war? 🤯😑

Very good interview. He nailed it - the market is nothing more than a Fed fueled casino right now. There are no investors, only political speculators. And the next huge bubble, is in PMs. Now, he really likes the miners, which I'm not in love with those, only because you know, paper is paper. And public traded equities == paper. And any and all paper, including the green stuff in your wallet, is going to become worthless IMO. So, I'd avoid those or at least keep it a very small position. The real answer: Physical PMs. Get loads of them. And hunker down and try to avoid governement theft, as long as you can. That's my best advice.
