Gold Tip AirStrike Arrows: Long-Term Review

I've been shooting the Gold Tip AirStrike arrows for more than a year now and I think they have surpassed the Kinetic Kaos as my favorite Gold Tip hunting arrow.
Here is my long-term review of this versatile arrow.

Happy to have found you! I'm relatively new to archery (2 years in October). Our specs are the same. 28" arrow, Hoyt Axius (Ultra), 30" DL, 70# draw. You're review means quite a lot to me. Would you put any more weight up front for an elk hunt? If you did would you go down in spine? What weight broadheads are you shooting? Thanks!

I am far from a hunting expert, so I’m not sure I’m the best source here - especially since I’ve never chased elk. Personally, I’d happily shoot my current arrow set up for any deer/elk hunt. But you will certainly get different answers from different hunters. I’ve only ever shot 100-grain broadheads.

Arrow pulls out easier because tip diameter is bigger than shafts.

I bought a dozen shafts in 340 spine, cut at 29.25" carbon, ~70# pse vendetta, 29"draw length. Turns out with 100g point I'm under spined. Going to use them on one of my other bows at 60#, which they shoot good or of. Just so everyone knows with the supplied insert and ballistic collar you will have almost 40g weight at front of arrow with no point installed, instead of 12g of a normal insert. I should have got the 300 spine as I found out after checking gold tip spine chart.

I've got the 300 spine and I'm using the heavier stainless steel insert. Arrows are cut a bit shorter than yours and I'm still right on the edge. I should probably go down a spine if I'm using those heavy inserts.

An update, I found a missing e-clip on one end of cam axle on my bow after posting this. Installed the clip and everything shoots fine. Been using with the PSE since, and they shoot fine out of Matthews Creed too.

Couple questions for you if you can answer I know this is an old video you have a 29 inch draw you said how long is your arrow and how much does the ballistic collar sit down on shaft. So with insert then collar takes up ½ ¾ more over shaft

I actually shoot a pierce tour 250 spine at 512gr for a hunting arrow because I like the super micro dia. I prefer the heavier arrow for penetration. How would you compare penetration of the pierce tour to the airstrike (in similar overall weight) ? I was thinking about switching to the airstrike due to the lighter overall weight of the arrow and stacking more weight up front. I commonly shoot 100-120 yards, run a 4 fletch Max stealth on the pierce tours, just curious if there is any penetration to gain with the airstrike? The Tours hit like a hammer but just curious if there is anything to gain in long range accuracy and penetration with the higher FOC airstrike?

I’ve only shot Pierce Tours with a target rig, so I can’t make that comparison. But if you are happy with the how the Tours are shooting, I’d keep shooting them.

Penetration is pretty similar to any other small diameter arrow that weighs this much.

I've shot these and mossy oak from Walmart no difference think they are over rated! Seem to break easily! Unless I just got a bad batch
