Pokemon Adventures had some of the best battles in the Pokemon manga verse. It brought some kind of reality to the battles. One of my favorite fights is Red vs the elite four

I love the buildup. Most people cover manga/anime fights in a vacuum, and it can really lessen the impact of that fight. I like how you go in depth about WHY the fight was so important.

I read GSC at the beginning of the year, and it was an incredible experience. I had a soft spot for RBY, and wasn't expecting this to surpass it, but DAMN it managed to. Absolute BANGER story.

My favorite battle with Gold was his final encounter with Mask of Ice where he manages to finally defeat him by using a combined attack from his entire team.

Even tho Polibo helped a him a little, Togebo one shotting Tyranitar (and not just any Tyranitar as we will learn later) with a "not very effective move" is an incredible feat, especially considering the fact that he hatched from an egg 5 chapters prior. Silver had every right to be shook, but even he didn't have the full context. It's also a nice foreshadowing to the end of the GSC chapter. Good review of one of my favorite battles of the arc, even if it was incredibly one sided.

The first manga I bought from this particular series of Adventures included Gold's 6 vs 5 (well 6) battle with Silver and I loved it! I've watched this video 8 times since you posted it just because of nostalgia! Another of my first manga books from Pokemon was from DP when the main character had a Piplup and he battled Cyrus for the first time and got destroyed by his Gyarados after taking out Weavile. Then he went to face Byron and then did some Iron Island training with Riley. I gotta go through my closet to find those books...

Oh, the memories, I remember when I first read this 14 years ago, it was amazing and pays of at the end. The middle section with Crys was rough, the Suicune fetch quest doesn't age well at all and goes null and void. Glad we got the Kanto Dex Holders tho. And the League too. Also, Happy Birthday bro. Silver is absolutely my favourite character from the manga. They did him more than mere justice - they took a pretty one-note rival from the games and turned him into the most complex and interesting character around.
