I cannot stress enough how genius Lysandre is as the villain of XY, thematically at least. You’re telling me that the first Pokémon game to go full 3D, the game people mark as the beginning of Pokemon’s downfall, has a villain who refuses to let his beautiful world growing uglier?!! This game released just after B2W2, one of the most visually stunning games in the series, and the villain wants the world to remain beautiful and unchanging! Hello?!!?!?!?! Next to Diantha’s welcoming acceptance of change and AZ’s desire to change himself, XY had some amazing ideas and themes!

On top of that, Lysandre uses almost exclusively previous Gen Pokémon on his team, only having a Pyroar for Gen 6 rep, whereas Diantha uses exclusively Gen 6 Pokémon aside from her ace Gardevoir. She’s accepting the new Pokémon and experimenting, Lysandre sticks to old Pokémon he knows.

favorite part of xy arc is how emma is a **main story** character, a proper badass who literally captures and briefly wields zygarde. she's a favorite from the games despite her largely hidden appearance, so seeing her get expanded (haha) on was wonderful

And Lysander, insane absolutely nuts, scares a ten year old and permits the kidnapping of a Fifteen year old. And tries to cause genocide and Direct murder. I'm not surprised

the final battle of kalos in the anime was great but the adventures manga always had these great final battles throughout the whole series Zapmolkuno and gen3 twist were one of the few things that are memorable for me
