I wish we had more details about the Great Crusade in general. The civilizations they interacted with, the wars waged, the interactions with between the Primarchs, et cetera. Like seeing old Horus for example. Everyone loved Horus and I'd like to see what he was like as a good guy, as the best of the Primarchs that everyone respected and loved. We only got a tiny bit of good Horus in the start of the HH series I'd like to see a bit more.

This case will require a very lengthy trial to resolve. Never forget: It wasn't ordinary humans who put the Emperor on the Golden Throne, it was traitorous Astartes. Traitorous MUTANTS...

Whenever I hear about a lost branch of humanity with advanced tech from the Golden Age, it's only hearing about how they lost, and were wiped out completely, despite every advantage possible against the Imperium. Sometimes, GW does this only from spite. But, losing to a single Astartes Company, not a few Legions? Yeah, that's certainly GW mocking us.

A childish view point… war advances technology. Yes, it can absolutely do the opposite. But “how to best kill my enemy before they kill me” creates really inventive people. Take Nazi Germany… the war it started turned it into a world power. It went from a broken nation recovering from a humiliating loss, to the height of technological prowess in war and world wide economical domination that took all the world powers combining their power to take it down. Even when it lost, countries that moments before were warring against it, dumped billions to curry favor. Regardless of what moral abhorrence you pretend… the war Germany started ensured its future. War in Europe was inevitable with or without Germany. Germany acting preemptively put it in a position to gain the greatest benefit. Germany at the very least needed to build up its military to protect itself from other expansionist nations. Even iff it decided to peacefully grow. In the end regardless of what ideology took hold in Germany… war was inevitable. Germany was in a position where it could capitalize on the weakness of other growing nations. War was just logical… take them out before they are weak and grow.

i think the rakni (spelling?) and the "lost" primarchs are something in this vein, like we found a huge empire of humanity that hadnt fallen and were still living their own golden age and one primarch said no and is in the black cells, and the other tried to defend them and was obliterated for it. something like that and the whole "Wait, we're the baddies" moment is why the primarchs purged their memories of them.

Going against the Imperium was not a good idea during the Great Crusade. That the chaos gods scuppered Emps plan to eventually stop every soul from becoming daemon fodder (though potentially not scuppered, we'll find out with the 3rd part of the Bequin trilogy), does not change the fact that opposing the Imperium was not a good idea. What happened to all the humans in that civilisation as a result of resisting? They became daemon fodder and contributed nothing towards fixing this problem. 40k is a setting that makes a mockery of idealism

Lets be honest, the Imperium ceased to be human long before that. Space Marines are mutants at best, abominations by any measure of what a human is supposed to be, most people aboard those ships are cyborgs and or slaves striped of their humanity. Almost all citizens are twisted by a madness that makes them worship a so called Emperor of Mankind, which is in complete opposition of the wishes of the very same guy. I doubt there is a shred of humanity left in this fictional universe, except maybe in some obscure corner waiting for its inevitable demise at the hands of the Imperium.

You know, I kinda feel like there’s some interesting potential to explore a lot more of humans who oppose the Imperium. Even in the present I feel like it could be interesting to have rebel factions that have a shared disdain for the Imperium but different reasons for opposing it leading to interesting interactions with each other.

@@TheLostPrimarch I feel like you could have some fun with different groups within the rebel faction that have different values, and that could lead to a lot of difficult situations where they fluctuate between reluctantly working together and fighting each other. Like maybe there could be one faction that opposes the Emperor but still maintains human supremacy, and another one that believes in co-existing with Xenos, maybe even having some in its ranks. From there you could probably get some crazy things. Like what about one group that not only believes in co-existing with xenos, but also encourages breeding with them (perhaps on the rationale that it introduces new genes and therefore helps both species evolve), or one that sees genetically modified humans as the real future of humanity (in direct opposition to the Emperor's view of it as a mere tool), and there could be ones like the one in your video that go for full cybernetic augmentations. I feel like there's a lot of unused possibilities here.

For cybernetic enhanced civilization they did pretty bad risk management thinking. One planet based civilization in the era when everyone and their backwater grandma could pull of exterminatus has questionable chance for legacy and to oppose imperium you need imperium with appropriate production base and gun output. Quetude was spacefaring civilization taking on mantle of humanity in rather uncompromising way yet still they were isolationist and not expanding civilization. Still they should at least did some spying and probing and then the maths about probality of success in conflict between spacefaring tenchno-ant vs spacefaring 19th century steel factory. Quietudes were not only brutal, unhuman abominations but also dumb and weak and I do not shed tears for them...However them sexbots have to be superb tho.

No offense to the independent nations during the Great Crusade, but the truth is that they would have been destroyed by the future threats of the Galaxy, and make no mistake that they were on borrowed time and no amount of advance technology or idealistic thinking would have saved them. The Emperor didn’t want to destroy the other human nations, but he knew that they would have fallen to Chaos or by Xenos threats, and that means that humanity had to be united under one banner.

Those were not Golden Age humans. Golden Age humanity would mop the floor with the Imperium, it's primarchs and Emps himself. They had guns that could shoot into past. Since the Cybernetic Revolt, capabilities of humanity's remnants were enormously hindered. Most of those remnant civilizations are no better than Technobarbarians of Terra. They have fancy stuff yet judging by their progress in expanding which usually stops at star system or two, they can't compete with the Imperium.
