So did the Empire defeat Tyranids and we need a new thereat?

I believe Vashtorr is the Omnissiah. I also want to see him become the newest Chaos Entity, regardless of what the other 4 want. It could touch off a massive Mechanicus civil war, and I'd love to see that, especially if Golden Age of Technology tech began popping back into use.

You ask these questions like there's a real answer. You know it's all made-up, right? The canon is all someone's made-up ideas. So there is no answer besides, "some official dude says (yes or no)." Or, realize your own made-up stories have just as much validity and make it up yourself. It's fantasy. The answer is whatever you want it to be.

I believe the weapon that Vashtor is looking for is sort of like an extreme cleansing weapon for the webway. Wahat'll happen is the Webway will collapse in on itself destroying everything inside it and releasing catastrophic amount of energy from each entrace and exit it has in the Materium. This would men the destruction of Commarah, The Black Libary, Harelquinns, several craftwolrds, Terra and several worlds. The total psykic aftermath of this will be unimaginable and feed directly to Vashtor, who'll receive enough to ascend.

I like your idea that the Emperor tried to influence who fell, because it makes some of his actions more understandable. He totally crapped on Lorgar and Angron, but those were also two primarchs you wouldn't want to trade for any of the loyal ones. In the end the best leaders and legions stayed loyal, with the exception of Horus himself.

starting and ending quotes are both DeathWatch, we see different chapters, likely to be part of a deathwatch team.

7:00 Have you ever considered the implications of being able to see multiple timelines? Can you imagine the weight of those decisions? What does one do when you see this 1 in a billion chance for a utopia, an ideal state of peace and prosperity, but it is surrounded by nearly every other branch leading to hell? Do you go for it? Do you choose the most likely path to good outcomes? Do you seek the best outcome? How do you weigh those decisions? Warhammer 40k has always seemed to me to be the attempt at the best potential path knowing there was fire and pain to walk through to get there. The question I carry with me - did the Emperor foresee this future and choose this path for the reward on the other end? Or is the current path of the universe the dark side branch where something went wrong?

Horus Heresy has been around since the start. The book series may not have been but the footnote of the Heresy certainly was. Its quite obvious they are there for homebrew purposes. In fact, the was believed before the book series came out that 1 fell to Chaos and the other loyalist and their issue happened after the heresy. So players could use one as a loyalist and one as a heretic origin. With the book series they got rid of this, so they could tell a story without having to deal with those characters. The only "reference" to one is in a custom campaign that was made. There was a player who needed a force and they added a primarch for it. BUT, the Horus Heresy only involves 18 primarchs. In fact, a Primarch (if not both) were already gone by the time Corax took control of his Legion. A few issues. From what I've read, Corax was found after Angron. So it is unlikely they would be called "War Hounds" unless its in the narrow window between when Angron was found and calmed down enough to take over his legion. Even sources that contradict elsewhere, have Angron being found before Corax. Corax was one of the last Primarch's found with only Alpharius being definitely found after him. I'm curious where the source is for all of this. The only mention of Gedron is Gedron II from the Tyranids Codex. that I can find that is. Seems like it isn't "Official Lore" as you claim.

So, a few thoughts on this: we already know that this teaser is "a compilation of shots that represent the former lives of the characters". So my bet is that we will have 5 separate short stories for each of the chapters and then all of them in a Deathwatch climax. Remember, Astartes 1 was also told in 5 separate story chapters. I hope that now we will have longer segments for each chapter's story (perhaps 5m each instead of previous 2m per segment?) and then a grand Deathwatch finale. Second, since this shows the Scythes of the Emperor (very appropriately) fighting the Tyranids, it should be set before the events of The Great Work and my guess would be the Second Tyrannic War (at least for the Scythes). So definitely end of M41. At the same time, we know that Astartes 1 was set after the "Argosa uprising" (Astartes 1 intro), which apparently lasted until 482.M39. That's a window of 2000 years when Astartes 2 seems to be set. Anything interesting happening in that period and involving all these chapters + Deathwatch? And finally, regarding the Retributors and the Primaris: since Astartes 1 was set in M39 and Cawl unveiled the Primaris at the launch of the Indomitus Crusade, and I did not see any Primaris marines in any of the chapters in the teaser, I would think Astartes 2 is set closer to M39 than M41.
