Idk if I can sit thru this whole video BUT the lore says EXPLICITLY that ALL the primarchs were "created" by the emperor using HIS OWN DNA and genetically altering each sample in diferent ways to create unique individuals, that's why they are his "sons". Unfortunatly splicing genes is complicated and so most of them had....unfortunate...complications/side effects.

My theory is this; the Emperor knew that each of the Primarchs were going to embody a part of his personality and as part of his constant need for contingencies, intentionally made "a baker's dozen," and made 20 Primarchs when he intended only to make 18, having the two extra to embody the elements that would not benefit him in his plan for human supremacy. Personally, I believe those two traits would likely be peace and humanity itself. He wouldn't want a Primarch of peace to exist during the great crusade and unification of the galaxy, but he wouldn't want to abolish it either as it would be a perfect figurehead to exist when his great plan succeeded and could rule perfectly in his stead. The second, a Primarch embodying humanity itself, the weakest part of the Emperor, would likely have been unfit to fight and perhaps be a template for the future of all humans, but again, not something that is necessary now. And in fact might be too dangerous to exist now. I figure that would be the one purged, the DNA and data from it kept secret and stored away for when the great work was done and humanity could be uplifted safely. It also hits really well that if this theory was true, the one forgotten was Peace. Given the state of the galaxy, it definitely seems so.

There was a cinversation between Guilliman and Sanguinius about why Sanguinius did not speak to the Emperor about correcting the Red Thirst and the Black Rage, and its because he did not want his sons to suffer the dame fate as their brother at the hands of Leman Russ.

Honestly, the idea that the purged 11th primarch was the psychic counterpart to Magnus fits even better when you consider that Leman Russ was already known as "the executioner" and was highly vocal about his hatred of psykers. Going so far as to be one of the primary advocates for banning psykers at the council of Nikia. Maybe the true root of that hatred is because of the psyker brother he had to put down in the past.

I think Russ was the backup plan for Magnus. There are a ton of parallels between Russ and Magnus, and between the Space Wolves and the Thousand Sons. Both legions are unusually prone to mutation, and both have extensive dealings with seemingly benevolent warp entities from their respective home planets. Russ simply never developed his psychic abilities like Magnus did due to different upbringings and beliefs.

The wolves, Alpha Legion and Salamanders were created apart from the other legions. Each one is a contingency plan. The wolves and Russ are the go-to executioners. Made to kill another primarchs and astartes The salamanders and Vulcan are the gate keepers to the throne. Why else would you make your son Immortal?? The Alpha Legion… We know that they were literally passed as a legion later in the Crusade. We also know that they were probably the best of the legions in terms of battle tactics and doctrine. We know that that one of the twins was THE first primarch discovered must have learned the most from the Emperor. We know that they are masters of deception and battle. I believe that the Alpha Legion were meant to be THE legion left over and perhaps the only real fighting force that the emperor would need. These three legions were, in my opinion and from what the Heresy teases, at the emperor’s end goal legions. Once the crusade was over and the webway project was also completed why would need twenty legions??🤔

But he made the Wolves and this comes back into the contingency. We know the Emperor had 20 cells/prisons under the palace. When Corax goes back to Earth for the info about rebuilding his legion. He noticed this. It would seem the Emperor would lock them up or do whatever with them when not needed.

There is art of the second legion's banner, was from many years ago so it's probably retconned anyway. Rumours are that the 11th Primarch was called Malibron, that his colours were blue red and yellow and that the Rainbow Warriors and Death Strike marines are actually from his geneseed.

According to Rick Priestley the two Lost Legions were never created for homebrew, as it would be decades before GW made the Horus Heresy playable. Rick Priestley says that he included the two lost primarchs to imply a deeper history for a setting that at the time had very little written about it. Same way Rome had 3 legions that were wiped out in the Battle of Teutoburg Forest and whose numbers were retired forever or how for a long time there was a legend that Legio IX Hispanica marched alone into Caledonia and were lost in the process (Today most historians believe they disappeared from British history simply because they were moved somewhere else)

I think at least the Purged did something really wrong. And I mean... Originally the idea was that the Emperor was truly dead and this was kept from the population while the thousand souls sacrificed daily were what actually powers the Astronomical. I'm pretty sure that is not the case anymore.

FUCKING FINALLY SOMEONE POINTED OUT ERDA WAS A ESCAPEGOAT. The Emperor was in the damn nursery with Erda when she was causing the scattering. He could've easily killed her (bc not even all Perpetuals combined could defeat him), but he didn't, HE LET HER DO IT. That's why he didn't "punish" her (her punishment was not see her own children anymore). Because he needed someone to take the children away. To add to the too suspicious situation was the fact they landed in planets that were habitated by humans, they could've landed in xeno habitated planets or wastelands with no life at all, no. They only went to planets with humans on it, some of them sent to planets that with the specific population each Primarch needed to make his Legion. Erda in the end, was used. She thought she was preventing her children from being weapons and and be able to live as humans, she ended doing exactly what the Emperor wanted. Also might as well leave here, Leetu is probably a sensei, he's the Emperor's "gift" to Erda.

I believe in the 8th edition Custodes codex they mention a "Subject 11" that's locked up in the dark cells under Terra. I don't think they randomly selected 11

My head cannon was always that the lost Primarchs were: One of them possibly could have children and possibly befriended Xenos, living in an area similar to Ultramar, but with Xenos within said empire and eventually turned against the Imperium with the Xenocides being directly against this part of space, including this Primarch’s human forces, Xenos forces, and the genetically divergent Rangdan whom were genetically altered humans. All of this under the banner of the Rangdan Xenocides. The other was one, possibly the progenitor of the Carcharodons whom was using DAOT cloning and Men of Iron including forbidden AI tech, whom was a monster of a Primarch. All of this would be seen as a massive no-no. Both would be grave threat to the Imperium. I’d like to think this leaves room for whether or not they were loyal or traitor. Allowing the Agrarian Primarch and the Tech Primarch to both have heroic arcs in which they could either be pro Imperium and were eventually overrun by their former Xenos or AI allies or they were corrupted, one by genetic engineering (the Rangdan) and the other by technology, becoming abominations that had to be dealt with.

I like the theory of the 2nd being sent out of Galaxy. It would make sense that the Big E would know about the Tyranids/Extra-Galactic threats, and even if he was relatively useless during the Age of Tech (it is stated he stayed out of it entirely, because he didn't want to interfere,) Erda and the other Perpetuals (that sided with him) probably were in positions of power, and thus knowledge. I don't think he erased the full knowledge of him, just that it was kept to the closest of the close, so Malcador and probably his head of the Custodes at the time, in case the Primarch returned with a dangerous army. The problem comes from the fact that there is no need to hide the information. Chaos can't function in the intergalactic void, let alone most other galaxies as they don't harbor the Warp. It was even stated that the Old Ones needed to create it here to be able to do their hoodoo. So if he did leave, it could be that he left under bad circumstances when it comes to the Emperor, maybe disagreeing fully with the Emperor's plans outside of the galaxy, but still heading off and doing the important part - seeding humanity elsewhere. Which is why he is known as the Forgotten, and not Purged.

The Emperor sent an aspect of himself in the warp, and because of the nature of time in the warp, your theory is plausible. That aspect of the Emperor could have been affected events as far back as the heresy. We may have seen that aspect in the lore but just assumed it was the Emperor of that time.

I think in retrospec the story of book V was a great one, but the problem with the first books of HH was that these primarchs acted and lashed out like childrens, but had superbrains and I don't know how many decades or centuries of experience. It just doesn't match up. They should be all like Gulliman at some point. So GW later retconned Fulgrim. A primarch wouldn't be caged by a demon for long. Why he stayed heretic, I may not be sure, probably his sorrows for his deeds were shallow at the end and Slaanesh temptations were stronger (a true god after all). So he would fall, since he was absolutly corrupted after killing his brother even if a demon lead his sword.

It’s also possible there was a second phyker primarch like magnus with their legion becoming the blood ravens, since the blood ravens have an abnormal amount of phykers plus their tendency to steal literally every artifact that isn’t nailed down. Not to mention almost all of those artifacts are warp related in some way. Perhaps the second phyker like was like mahnus but was tasked with collecting warp artifacts perhaps to help with the webway and that primarch was either lost on an expedition or corrupted by an artifact similar to fulgrim

The soul drinkers theory I think is a little difficult to swallow but the space sharks theory holds water to me. I know I'm a bit biased because space sharks are my favorite chapter even though I'm an ork 😂. It would be fantastic if the space sharks were actually one of the original 20 founding legions and their Primark is off in a different galaxy colonizing it. If I had to guess the new second imperium that's there is busy fighting tyrants

It's important they remain a secret, the reason they exist makes sense; the main reason no information is available is to allow fans to make their own head cannon and their own armies based on that cannon. It's one of the very few avenues of creativity that GW still allows within its game

3 i would like for them 1. Primarch 11 was a toddler when the emperor found him, realized eventually he is kinda useless as is, and put him to stasis in the dark cells as a new dresh primarch just in case 2. Couldn't be argued that Magnus and Lorgar are one another's flip side of the same coin? Lorgar even mentions that his brothers, other than Magnus, and him weren't close. Lorgar even confides in Magnus that he never wanted to be general, that he wanted to be something else, I don't remember what.

One of them is Malcador. But during the scattering he wound up in the past to become the emperor's best friend and right-hand man. Completing his transference upon death. The other, was himself. Sent from the future to grow up to be himself. This is why he needed to travel to Molech. To gain the ability to perpetuate the loop - hoping he could break the cycle. The emperor knows everything because he's been sending vessels of himself back - fueled by knowledge and the connection to his corpse throne thousands of years in the future. He's not dead on the throne - he's projecting to his vessel in the past.

I've always thought that the 2nd Primarch was so powerful that even the Emperor couldn't control him. He was locked away, maybe put into stasis for such a time as the Imperium would need him. Unfortunately, with the Emperor entombed upon the Golden Throne, this 2nd Primarch was forgotten.

My take: Malibron is the real story of what happened to Primarch #11. In that he suffered a catastrophic defeat, losing 90% of his legion and his flagship in the process. Traumatized and infuriated, he sought to re-gain what was lost to him and took his remnant astartes to commandeer cloning tech from the Mechanicus by force, ignoring their warnings and pleas. The end result being Malibron rebuilding his entire legion with unstable clones that all went completely mad. Holed up with his few true remaining astartes, he instantly surrendered when Russ, Khan and Corax came to clean up the mess. He lives on in solitary confinement under Terra, as Subject XI. His lew surviving astartes were inducted into the Ultramarines and Iron Fists, being seen as blameless for their Primarch's errors. As for the Primarch #2? I believe that he and his astartes had the worst gene flaw, one that stuck in Sanguinious' memory and was the reason he protected his own astartes from ramifications. Either he was killed or abducted by the Necron, or something far worse. He and his astartes underwent briotransference. It is possible that Russ and Khan were called upon to purge this one and his abominable necro-astartes also.

I like the idea that one of them is Sigmar from Fantasy. That that entire world exists in 40k in the eye of terror. Stuck in the warp but worshipped giving him power to fight against corruption. This also fits with the Slaan being there and all the other factions. Time also flows differently there etc.

Consider my mind blown. How did I not think about this? I do nothing all day but think. Even at work, there is some part of me daydreaming. Perhaps I should not be so hard on myself. The primarchs didn't have daddy issues. They were mere pieces of the Emperor. Dorn his duty. Robut his aspects of statesmanship. Horus his political intrigue. The primarchs struggle with the pieces of the Emperor that they do not have. It's fragments of the Emperor's greatest traits vying to understand a world where they exist without the greater whole.

I've always liked the "Plan B" strategy, though I figured one of the Magellanic Clouds was a more likely target. It is fun to imagine them out there, not knowing the Emperor is incapacitated, waiting for a signal. Suddenly seeing the Great Rift split the galaxy might have prompted a return, though... Pre Heresy style Legions that have developed in their isolation past where the Imperium even was during the Crusade, returning to a corrupted Imperium. Weighing whether to launch a new Crusade to restore the Emperor's vision and "free" the Emperor from the witch-doctors who entombed him...

I've always had a theory about the primarchs souls. It's stated in older lore that the emperor of mankind gained something on Moloch... we have no real idea of what it was. However, since it was at the end of the Primarch project, as if it was the last thing he needed. The statement of the primarchs souls being comprised of 2 parts... being half Emperor and half warp entity can be proven by Corvus being a giant Crow demon with complete control over his transformation, as well as Lorgar having control over his own demonic transformation. My theory as to what happened to the 2nd and 11th is that they both realized that they could transform to the warp entity versions of themselves, however they being so young as far as primarchs are concerned, they didn't have control and they went insane. The Emperor, Lion El Johnson, Leman Russ, and Malchador had to put them down... What do yall think?
