So many years. Crazy to think for the past fifteen years of my life this plant has been growing and striving the whole time just for this exact moment to flower and be witnessed and loved ❤

how do you repot such a huge cactus
@wholelotofnature6 ай бұрын
Hey, cactuses usually don't require repots for more than 10 years, using heavy duty gloves while breaking apart the old pot is the only way to report her.

We did collect a few but didn't get a chance to germinate them and get them started yet. Will make a video once we do that!

@@wholelotofnature i was lucky to collect 2 different kinds. One required me to clime on the side of the hwy. Very pretty red. I think its compass barrel or something. I don't see it often.

I see it is yellow at the bottom. Is it normal? I have the same species, and it started to yellow at the bottom. I am afraid it may be rotting.
@wholelotofnature Жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry for the late response. Don't be afraid, it's not root rot. This this only because the bottom part of the cactus doesn't receive enough sunlight. It yellows because the production of chlorophyll (the green pigmnent in plants) goes down due to the lack of direct sunlight. This is seen in their natural habitat too, but if you want to avoid it, keep it in the sunlight for more than 6-7 hours and rotate it bi-weekly. It will help reduce the yellowing.

@@wholelotofnatureThanks for the info. Another reason I read was that this could be lack of potassium. I am trying to be more careful with right fertilisers now. Before I just used regular houseplant fertiliser and aquarium water. They say this could also be because of using regular compost-based substrate, which I did actually, but mixed it with pebbles and sand. Anyway, is there a probability it will turn back from yellow in spring after receiving right ferliser doses?
