True Aretha Franklin is the one who made it the most famous I think but Carole King wrote it and I wore out the Tapestry album when I was in college listening to Carole King and this young lady definitely did both of them proud.

Absolutely stunning performance! A lovely soul, who had the courage to face her fears and go after her dreams. Taryn has possibly been procrastinating about stepping into the unknown, for possibly months if not years, because, it makes one incredibly uncomfortable and our central nervous system goes into overdrive. If you're going to correct people, at least be correct. The words for this song were written by Gerry Goffin and the music composed by Carole King FOR Aretha Franklin, whose recording of it was released in 1967. Carole King later recorded a version for her 1971 album Tapestry. Legendary work on the part of all parties, but Aretha Franklin's version is not a cover, nor did it follow Carole King's recording. Many artists record songs written and composed by others. If we're going to be pedantic and take your approach, no songs could be attributed to Elvis Presley, as it's well known that he didn't write the tracks he recorded (even those that weren't covers).

Taryn is a natural woman blessed by God with a great voice. And she knows how to use it. Beautiful. I hope that she goes on to win... I totally agree with Simons comments, that's how people should sing. Taryn put her heart and soul into that song, she felt the words and spat them out with meaning. You rarely here that in this day and age, it's all electronic and vocal tuning. The emotion has been lost and real talent is so hard to find. TCE
