Was a Dutch rock band. Founded in 1961 and disbanded due to illness of George Kooymans(singer and guitarist) in 2021. It was the oldest existing rock band in the Netherlands. And also the longest existing band in the world. They had international success with the hits: RADAR LOVE, TWILIGHT ZONE and WHEN THE LADY SMILES, and their albums: Moontan and Cut.

This was Golden Earring's biggest hit ever. And I fell in love with it when I first heard it. I've heard a lot of copies by other bands who have done covers but their's don't even come close to being as great as the original. Thank you so much for reacting to this. ❤️

516 / 5.000 I'm surprised that you, as a Belgian, don't know Golden Earring. They were around until 2021 and broke up shortly before their sixtieth anniversary because guitarist George Kooymans was suffering from ALS. This made them one of the oldest rock bands in the world. They performed frequently in Belgium until recently and filled the halls there. Singer Barry Hay is the son of a British officer and a Dutch Jew. He was born in India and grew up speaking English. That's why he sings without an accent.

This is a banger of a song from Golden Earring, this song 'Radar Love' 1973 was a massive hit, and it's fabulous. Golden Earring are a Dutch rock band, founded in 1961 in The Hague as The Tornados. They achieved worldwide fame with their international hit song 'Radar Love' in 1973. Such drive in this song, (no pun intended!) Loved that car, what a beauty - a 1969 Shelby GT 350, and it was great that you recognised the motorway E19 which you said you've been on! Thanks so much for your reaction, Anthony, really enjoyed it.😊❤

Instant recognition and adrenaline rush right from the first three notes of this song! This was a fun one for the dance floor too because it did so many change ups. See if Esh knows this one and also send to BP to react to it - pretty sure he won't know it but would enjoy it. 😁

Saw them at the Glasgow Apollo in 1974. I'm sure at the end of Radar Love the Drummer jumped over his drums, got his foot caught on a cymbal and flew of the high stage and disappeared. But, fortunately a few seconds later we saw this dark figure clamber back on stage, none the worse for his acrobatics! Somebody please confirm this, as my memory is beginning to addle with age?

I live in Scotland but don't remember this but I found this comment on a website - 'Golden Earring were really late on cos, as they said to the crowd, "We were watching Star Trek!!" After the drum solo on Radar Love, the drummer stood on his stool and did a somersault over his kit, fell off the stage and landed in the crowd. What a cheer. Still, he took it well and headed back up the stage.'😊😊

In the 70's the expressway was not old yet and each slab was the same size as the others. The young were paying tickets and the old were getting warnings. All due to the subconscious mind hearing the tires slap the cracks in the pavement and the pace of the music. The human mind hearing the tires and without being aware the mind trys to match the tires to the music. Older folk were clocked at 70 to 90 mph in a 55 mph speed limit. They normally stayed under the speed limit. It took until 3 years later before most people learned this.

My brother is a retired police officer, and back in the day he said if he ever pulled anyone for speeding and they had simply said "sorry, officer, Radar Love was on the radio" - he would have let them off without a ticket. Never happened though 😂

As a Central European who wants to discover rock, you definitely have to get to know GE. “Back Home” was in our charts at the time of “Whole Lotta Love” and “Black Night OH”. Especially 1969+1970, a crazy time as a teenager when you didn't have enough money for all the good albums that were released. In my opinion, GE Live 1977 is one of the five best live albums of the 70s, including the fantastic songs She Flies On Strange Wings, Mad Love's Comin', Vanilla Queen and theirs own interpretation of the Byrds classic Eight Miles High, all rock songs with prog transitions that makes it GE was something special back then, especially the longer live versions. After the launch of MTV in 1981, GE had another international hit with Twilight Zone in 1982, especially in the USA. GE were live twice in 1982+2007 at the Rockpalast (then the cult show; videos available) and in 1992 on MTV, officially released as Naked Truth 1992 and Naked II 1997. Have fun discovering good music👍✌-

I heard "Landing" on the radio about 1969 and captured it on the tapecorder. I liked it a lot. Not until KZbin I got to explore the group more. It still holds! Ekseption, another Dutch group was quite popular here in Sweden. Mixed classic music with rock. You should check the video with "Toccata" from 1973!

Don't buy the album . I saw them in Glasgow and they opened with this , everybody went nuts . They played another two that were duff so they played Radar again , then in the encore nobody was howling for . Real one hitters . Everybody was just waiting for a European world class rock band and the Cloggies looked favourites , the nearest thing they got to it was Abba . One of life's mysteries BTW he never soloed because he couldn't .
