Golden Gate Bridge San Francisco

Took a drive to go see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. I got lucky with no traffic and no crowds at the Golden Gate Bridge because i went on a weekday. The bridge looks so majestic.

Richmond-San Rafael bridge. I live 5 minutes away so you literally drove right by me without stopping to say hello😂 glad you got a sunny day the bridge is covered in fog most of the time. As far as why people live in California I make far more money in the Bay Area than I would in some other state, so the cost of living is balanced by a higher income. And the weather is the best. Also other reasons that I won't mention here

Native California Bay Area girl here, you had me laughing so hard at your Golden Gate Bridge story, that I got the hiccoughs! I am sorry about all the traffic in California, we natives don't like it either. There are many negatives and positives about living here. California still has a lot to offer. It's not the LANDS fault... I've been to quite a few places in California...I lived in Vallejo in the 1970s when the Navy Base Mare Island was still open.. also lived in Stockton as a child.. when it was still a nice college town... 😏. I loved all the places I was able to see back then... The mountains, the beaches... It's just SO diversely beautiful....it's sad everyone can't share it as much anymore... Bc no one can even afford to drive there..

It is what it is. On the weekends, still traffic, not as much, and you move a little faster, but still traffic. People that have to commute for long distances, to go to work each day, that's tough. Lucky for me, I lived close to my job. And I put in my time in California. Taking the Alcatraz tour, is something I would want to do also. Thank You, California, It was fun.

I’ve never seen San Fransisco in person, but I did watch the Streets of San Fransisco growing up in Australia in the 1970’s. Although I think I spent more time staring at Karl Malden’s nose than I did the scenery in the show!

Cool bridge! I've had the pleasure of going across the Golden Gate Bridge several times on vacation. By car, truck, motorcycle, and even on a bicycle once. Always a great view! 😎

The Golden Gate bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it was built! I love Alcatraz! Fascinated with it and all the movies! Wow, you had Hwy 1 all by yourself! Very little traffic. So Beautiful! Glad you had a decompression day.

It's been years since I was in San Diego, and it was outrageous how expensive it was. I bet it's even worse!!! That takes away from the beauty! Northern California was breathtaking ❤

What you describe is true from LA all up the west coastal cities to and above San Francisco. If you live inland in the big San Joaquin Valley like I do, then you get to live in less crowded cities with plenty of surrounding countryside and close to the Sierra Mountains. Been here all my life and would not want to live anywhere else. Ca has more to offer than any other state however, I am also in love with Arizona.

We are both in the same club. Made a trip from Kansas to California to see the bridge, also got the reroute from the navigation system. First big bridge I’m on, I hoot and holler in excitement. Slowly it dawns on me that it was the wrong color. My first thought was I guess they repainted it with silver paint. In my defense, seeing any bridge with water under it is a big event. I live in the dry part of Kansas. Anyway I finally found the bridge that was painted the correct color. Grin.

I hadn't ever saw the golden gate bridge. When I got a chance we went that way to see it on the way home from the nortern redwoods. I WAS SO DISAPOINTED TO SEE A RED OR PINK BRIDGE INSTEAD OF GOLDEN BRIDGE. I ALMOST DIDN'T GET CLEAR ACROSS SO I COULD PUKE!

💯 percent right about California. Too expensive, too many people, too much traffic, very beautiful. When I went to a family reunion in San Diego most of my relatives are native Californians, they all complained about prices of everything and congestion. But they all said they wouldn't live any where else. Even my cousins who escaped, said they'd love to move back. Personally I think they were nuts.

Hi sarah, glad you got to see the real golden gate, my stepson was in the coast gaurd stationed at ft bragg about 250 mi n,w, of sacramento i went to pick him up when he was done there , he bought the tickets to go on the alcatraz tour, you wear little headphones and a little recorder that explains eveything on the whole island and a very in depth tour of the prison . The tickets were a little spicey but definetly worth it, id do it again , given the chance .if you ever go that way again you should check out that tour ,,pretty cool! Happy you got a little you time❤❤!

Sarah, I do agree with you 100% and that is why I don't live in the central valley in Monterey Bay because it's just too expensive. That's why I moved to the desert. It is so peaceful and beautiful. Yes it may seem strange to say that but it is true, the desert has a beauty that I can't explain. I now have everything I need thanks to the Lord opening doors for me and giving me a wonderful home and the vehicles I have and need. No kidding, we spent nearly an hour on the bridge itself coming back Sunday evening to SF from a day trip to Bodega Bay. When the traffic stopped you could feel the bridge undulating beneath you, a very unsettling experience!

@VinceFelix-ff9cf it was the Richmond San Rafael bridge. She drove past San Quentin which is right at the end of the bridge. And when the Bay Bridge was rebuilt after the 89 Quake, the double deck cantilever section was replaced with a single level suspension span

Carquinez, Richmond/San Rafael, Bay, Golden Gate, San Mateo and Dumbarton all Bay area bridges. Wait there's more..go a bit inland and you got Martinez and Antioch bridges. Although we don't consider the last two part of the bay area. For they are not on the bay but up in the straits

The San Francisco side of the Bay Bridge is a Suspension Bridge like the Golden Gate Bridge. Infamously Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate is filmed going Westbound on the Bay Bridge when he is supposedly heading to Berkeley.

100 yards from where you parded there is a left turn onto a narrow road down to fort point...you can park right under the bridge,,and you are right at the warter breaking on huge rocks..its my favorite place,, i go there every time I get the chance...

Sarah, just a little foot note I have been on hwy 1 but not in a car but on a motorcycle ride with 2 other bikes it was great. Oh by the way I think you were on the bay bridge not sure cause it has been a long time since I was on that route, God bless.

Sarah, I'm so glad you were able to get away!! Yes your right with 38 million people in California no wonder it's so crowded and expensive to live there, but many do and some leave. Before moving to Arizona I lived in California for 50 plus years and could no longer afford to stay. I've traveled over the whole state in all my years and it indeed has many beautiful places to see,but the traffic is horrible. I rented a bicycle one time years ago on pier 39 and rode across the GG Bridge to Sausalito and back, that was fun!! Thank you for taking us with you and it was funny, not funny dang Google maps got you lost!!😂

I'm so glad you got to get out for a day at least and get your mind straight! I hope your friend is doing okay , you have been such a great friend to him back, everyone needs a friend like you. You are solid. I wish I had somebody like you in my life. Yes I'm in California but the northern part but growing because people need to go somewhere. I'm ready to get my house for sell within the next year and I've owned my house for 27 years. Used to be really cheap where I'm at, like the difference between southern and northern CA, but people keep coming up here and making it much more expensive where we are. You have many people right over the border pushing natives out, then those people are moving up, then those people have to move up and now I'm being pushed out I feel.

The Bay Area has about 7 bridges, and you were on 580 Westbound on the Richmond San Rafael Bridge. You could have photographed that bridge quite well from our San Quentin Prison. So, the Golden Gate Bridge is international orange, and its color compliments the scenery. Imho, the best approach is from the North through the Robin Williams Tunnel.

You were on the Richmond San Rafael Bridge. It connects the east bay counties to Marin County. The GG bridge connects San Francisco County to Marin County. Once you were in Marin County, the GPS may have directed you to the GG Bridge. Perhaps you turned the directions off too soon. In any case you found it.

You should've taken the 280 and then veered left to Skyline blvd where it turns into the Great Highway and then back up to Geary after it passes Golden Gate Park and then back onto Park Presidio/Hwy 1. I mean, Cmon.
