I came here because I heard the tune during a carnival scene on an old episode of Bonanza. I immediately remembered the Golden Grahams commercial. Check out Wikipedia and "Oh Dem Golden Slippers" and learn how this came from minstrel shows that derived it from an African American spiritual. Southern, of course. All the pretty blonde people on horses....

Golden memories brought me in here! I remember eating that cereal and actually I do like the honey graham bites. The name actually fits perfectly to the cereals flavor profile. The other thing is the cereal doesn’t taste sugary. It just tasted as the honey is added to the cereal mixture.

I'm glad you posted that. I've always wondered if Golden Graham's had a Sugary taste as well as a Honey taste because I've never eaten the Cereal before. Now I know for sure that it doesn't. I think one Day I'll try it. Thank you for posting.

Lol "PART" .... of a "complete" breakfast ✌🏼😆 that wording though. I remember sitting and reading the boxed ingredients while eating Cheerios as a kid thinking, "Hey, this has a " before and after" (or "with") milk and it was amazing how after milk was added how magically it became a "healthy" choice. I learned early on it had little to do with the cereal at all 💁🏼‍♀️

It's interesting they cut from the hero shot of the cereal to a shot of the horses hooves motivating a pan to the pack shot, which sort of ends up equating the cereal with...leaf litter and dust. Slightly amusing juxtaposition from an editing point of view. Anyway, came here because of Homer Simpson, like everyone else...

This classic jingle is based on the old minstrel song "Oh Dem Golden Slippers." They used several versions of it in the late 1970's/early 1980's before switching to other tunes like "Happy Together." IMHO, this is the definitive Golden Grahams jingle.
