Awesome! I want a Carl Zeiss Jena 35mm soooo bad!!! lol. I unfortunately bought the Helios 44-4 instead of the 44-2, so its not the legendary bokeh one I thought I was getting. Oh well, still a nice vintage lens.

The Carl Zeiss Jena might be the favorite (cheap) vintage lens I've gotten to use, the Helios Bokeh is much less pronounced if you're not using a full frame camera, but it definitely still has a very unique and interesting look.

Need to try out my Helios. Funnily enough I owned one when I was a kid. My uncle gave me his old Zenit camera with one of these (no idea where it is now though) and I didn't realise it was the same thing until I bought another on eBay. Probably need to practice my handheld no IS skills too... Or get a better tripod.

It is a great lens, but very stylised, my one has a very loose focus wheel. Handheld with any of these vintage lenses is a bit of a mission.

Great question, don't really know! But it is basically the old version of the Sigma Lenses released before the Art series.

In a pinch would you go for the zeiss or the helios on a budget? Both look stunning, but the contrast on the zeiss packs a real punch! Zeiss are harder to find and seemingly much more costly for a decent unit

Helios if you want the most character. Zeiss if you want a more versatile and neutral lens. Zeiss is sharper and easier to use on a variety of projects, worth the additional cost. Helios is softer and harder to get critical focus, but the look is always very interesting.

No speedbooster, but it had been converted from it's original M42 mount to EF mount.
