Quality control is the reason I enjoy using and owning Panasonic cameras. No camera manufacturer is perfect in that area, but Panasonic seems to have the best record for quality control in my opinion. Their new cameras are almost always completely polished upon being released. Great video!

I just ordered the 6k... I don’t need the internal NDs because I shoot in studio 99.9% of the time so lighting is controlled 100%. I also got the LH5H which allows you to control the camera via Bluetooth... so all in all I spent the same amount with the battery fix and external monitor but I feel I’ll have a beefier system... thanks for helping me make this decision!
@Ansonandco3 жыл бұрын
Nice Leo! I actually did the same thing. I feel I love with the image of the camera so much that I bought a used 6k. Saved myself about $1k and that will be good cause I won’t feel as bad when I switch out the mount for PL.
@Burritosarebetterthantacos3 жыл бұрын
Funny, I got the 6kpro and realized I could just get a 6k and invest in NISI filters and not have to wonder when the ND motor is going to fail. Flip screen and battery are nice but I think Im going towards tried and true 6k OG. I do have very blue screen.
@Ansonandco3 жыл бұрын
Oh damn that blue screen is everywhere. I will say after using both this week. The convenience is nice on the pro but not necessary.
@PavSZ3 жыл бұрын
I love the build in ND filters - that's really useful! Looks like a really great cinema camera. The power issue could be a bit of a problem if you had to explain to a paid client why they have to wait for 10 minutes or more for the camera to come back (or not). I'm sure that will be very high on BM's list of priorities to e fixed with the firmware updates
@Ansonandco3 жыл бұрын
I think so. And I don’t think this is the biggest QC issue they have. I’ve only seen a couple of issues with it

great camera for stock videos. for me. But you still need a monitor so as not to miss focus with the selfie. when will they make the video broadcast to the phone?

@jasonnowwhat50413 жыл бұрын
Disagree about your R5 analogy. The R5 was absolutely nerfed by Canon. Overheating was a firmware/design/tactical choice by the manufacturer to push you toward upcoming video cameras. Black magic didn’t intentionally choose bad LCD panels of scratched plastics or power issues.

@@Ansonandco 😅 Very Welcome, bro! In watching Ep. 1 the first time, for a few seconds or so I actually wondered if you had someone else as the "villain." Your editing is on point, indeed. In the eyes of your fans here, I'd say most of us see your acting as quite natural, in the same way that your talking head style is smooth, clear, easy to follow. I've also noticed from some of your test shots, including the BMPCC OG ones of you looking in the mirror without your glasses, that you can convincingly portray a more serious, thoughtful expression quite naturally (even if, let's say, you weren't "trying" to act in those shots, they were powerful and subtle, showing depth of thought and great intelligence). It was subtle, but I noticed it. Brother, your acting ability is much better than you presently imagine. I foresee your views really blowing up for "My Brother..." this year, and your channel in general, if you manage to maintain a good consistency of uploading. 😅 All the Best

If you own PL lenses only, you may want to go for the Ursa 12k. The Pockets are clearly not playing in that league. But there are really so many EF lenses out there that I really dont see the point of using PL to be honest.
@Ansonandco3 жыл бұрын
Have the locking mount is for real a game changer. Some of the product shots I would have been able to pull off the same way with EF lenses because of how much movement there is with photo lenses when you are pulling or racking focus. Now sure there are now locking mounts for EF. But I figured it would be a long term investment if I ever did want to move to the Ursa line up, etc. I 100% agree if you are invested in EF this is a great camera but that’s why it’s a personal negative.

I just got myself a second hand Pocket 4K for cheap and am gonna save a bit for a two lens cine lens kit. Kinda wishing I hadn't jumped ship from the Pocket 4K at the beginning of last year to Sony now... Oh well, I learnt a lot and my shooting style changed over that time, the need for autofocus I leapt in to bed with Sony for has gone now! I'm loving my OG BMPCC as well as the fp and Video Assist for BRAW. Hot damn, that's some nice footage it creates!
@Ansonandco3 жыл бұрын
Dude so you’re about to have the OG, 4k and the FP with the video assist?? I think we are twins! Also I second the choice to invest in lenses. Much better than chasing specs of cameras these days hahaha

@@Ansonandco I wholeheartedly agree brotha! Good glass, designed for the purpose, not photography, is where I'm headed, slowly. I have a full array of Takumar's I'm gonna get Iron Glass to rehouse for me as I can afford it, plus a drop dead gorgeous 25mm Flektagon and I'm eying off some 645 lenses! I much prefer an aged appearance for my style of capture as compared to the clinical over-sharp lenses available as photography lenses to plonk on video enabled devices. Storytelling is where it's at for me and that's something this year is seriously devoted to for me. Documentary creation that connects is the aim.

@@Ansonandco Only rumors so far, but if they pan out... Firstly, as a photography camera. But if one can film in the 30MP mode where one join the pixels in a way to simulate the Foveon sensor, the IQ could be really really good. The sensor is rumored to be 60Mpx to have a 45 degree pattern which is very interesting. Would be interesting to see the sensor readout speeds. Also rumors about 15 EV DR, but that remains to see...

@@bonzology322 don’t get me wrong. I want to love black magic cameras. They offer a fanstastic image and value. My job in the these reviews to give all the info I have. I remember this rental unit powered down and did not turn on. And then the one I bought did it a couple of times. One in the middle of a wedding shoot. Blackmagic offers a fantastic deal with these cameras but it is well documented that they don’t have have the best quality control. So if you have a good unit… awesome! But there are people that have been burned, such as myself. I may buy p4ks again cause I can stomach the loss of 1200 more than 2500. But I won’t buy another BMD camera over $2000 again. But seriously stoked you have good units 🤘🏻
