Mahaavatra baba is not mentioned anywhere in any ancient scripture or stories. First we hear about him is thru parmahansa yogananda. If mahaavatra is so old, why wasn't he ever discussed in any book or by any other guru. So many other gurus and saints are well known but mahaavatra babaji is nowhere mentioned.

That is a very good question! I believe Lahiri Mahasaya taught Yogananda about Babaji which means Revered Father. He is also called the Deathless Saint. Online I found a source that claims Yogananda said Babaji is a living manifestation of God. He also mentioned that Babaji has an eternal sister in his autobiography which I read. Apparently Babaji as a hidden master only revealed himself to a few chosen kriya yogis and Yogananda was given permission to share some information about him. 🙏🏻🩷🕊️
