Really liked this form and ssj4. It brought sayains back to their roots and simultaneously evolved them. Ssj4 felt different, powerful, primal, and it is achived by controlling this form, combining both of the saiyains transformation, ozaru and super sayain.

I agree ssj4 is my favorite transformation it just is, my second favorite is Super Sayin God though cause I felt like it was going on a new direction like how 4 did but instead of back to roots it was gonna go somewhere wild, then ssb happened… look I’m not hating to much but it was such a let down and the only thing helping it out was seeing it used with Kaioken again

I loved that it gave a biological reason for the tails and monkey transformation. Because regardless of the difficulty to achieve, the fact that the Saiyan race just casually HAS Super Saiyan stored away in their biology makes Oozaru make no sense. UNTIL Ssj4 came along and required having mastery over both to achieve.

GT feels more like Dragon Ball than Super does with its never ending Transformations, Golden Oozaru feels like a naturel extension of the Saiyans Heritage where the God Forms, not so much.

It showed up in imagery in Z on Namek, but it seemed more like it represented the idea of the Super Saiyan rather than an actual form. I don't recall if it was a Toei original, or if it were present in the manga as well. Either way, the general idea existed before GT in a minor form.

You could have Raditz come back as a fully mastered SSJ3 in like near the climax of his revenge against Goku looks at the full moon but not for long just to increase his power level for Goku to say “A Super Saiyan who has a tail can draw power from the moon without transforming and the red eyes and the golden tail what amazing power!” Raditz says “I’m glad you recognize Kakarot, I almost meet the description of the Legendary Super Saiyan while not showing my other forms I got on deck, I told you the Saiyans’s full potential is in their tail.”

What I like about Golden Ape Oozaru is that it pays homage to the fact their alien monkies, and apes being the greatest of monkies. Plus when a male lowland gorilla hits sexual maturity gets his signature silverback, eerily similar to Saiyans getting blonde/silver hair colors at their peak. Universe 6 saiyans made a refernce to this by the phrase Cabba used to teach Califalia/Kale "Tinge down your back" similar to a Gorillas silverback. Plus this add to the argument that giant monsters like Godzilla and King Kong level are actually the true victors in the DB universe, granted this franchise isn't like Godzilla/King Kongs where they fight giant monsters each other, but you have to admit each time they come across a giant monster with significant hype they have a hell of a hard time beating it like the Hirudegarn in Wrath of the Dragon, Cell Max in Super Hero, or even Oozaru forms themselves, only by using moves with equal beastial power like Dragonfist punch or Beast gohan.

Technically baby was in his strongest form 2 or "super saiyan 3" and he is the golden oozaru of that form, so imo, it was a golden oozaru 3 rather than a regular golden oozaru

Super is outright outclassed in terms of power when it comes to GT. Babys outerversal, Shper 17 gas faster deat than hit with veing able to detect IT faster than instantaneously. Bulma basically confirms that golden great ape was 1,000x a normal great ape and she gives that power to super baby 2 making baby oozaru 400x 10,000=4,000,000 Ssj4 being confirmed equal to oozaru baby and his ssj3 being lowball 8x weaker than super baby 2 puts SSJ4 GOKU AT 32,000,000 LOWBALLED and he only gets stronger every time he transforms

I have theory that the original Super Saiyan was actually Bardok, even though we have a name or the original Super Saiyan and all depictions of them are a golden Oozaru, we know Bardok did obtain a Super Saiyan form and Frieza’s bomb actually blasted him back in time (at least in the movie continuity). So I feel like the tale of Bardok was passed on and changed over time like Chinese whispers and and Golden Ape Bardok may have even happened, but the tale was changed with each telling to invoke fear in enemies and the like even to the point that they lost Bardok’s name. Of course this just my own theory and probably holds no water at all but it’s my head canon.

It's very possible had Goku had his tail and looked up at a Namekian moon (assuming Namek had one), he could've transformed into a golden oozaru once he had obtained super saiyan. Given these circumstances, however, it wasn't until GT that the form could be realized.

Still miffed that even with DBS having Vegeta take a new path besides UI, he doesn't consider getting his tail back at all despite his wife using the dragon balls for cosmetic surgery all the time. Man was the one non-GT example of a Great Ape that can maintain control, and even had a technique to make a fake moon to access it whenever he wanted, but I guess after Frieza got wiped he figured Goku-brand Super Saiyan was the only way to go. Probably some Giant Piccolo/Buff Trunks logic of being too slow or whatever. I mean even with the valid excuse that Toriyama didn't want to draw tails anymore, Vegeta had that belt technique and knew how to not get paralyzed when his tail was grabbed.

Golden oozaru not only has to cover SSJ3 It has to cover Baby vegeta / Super Baby 1 / Super Baby 2 And cleanly dominate/tank That same multiplier gets stacked on Super baby 2 to equal ssj4. If Raditz returned I would like it revealed a Super Saiyan with a tail is able to look at the full moon but if they look away after looking at it before they become a Great Ape their eyes turn red like the original SSJ design and their tail turns super golden with a bunch of aura. dude idk theres something off about saying "dont do the basic math just listen to the diologue" (in a series mind you where kid goku in base is pushing back an attack that he couldnt push back in SSJ4 mind you) and then later going "i know its the same form and we dont know how these waves translate to power exactly but it should just be basic math and this is the answer" i agree that golden oozaru being stronger than just SSJ1xmonkey makes sense in the context of the lore and what is happening in screan at that time rather than only being slightly stronger than SSJ3 but saying blutz waves translate directly into power is pure speculation. does it make sense that more blutz means stronger? yes absolutely but saying 100 times as many blutz = 100 times as strong is nothing but an assumption it could be exponential where every blutz worth of energy multipliesd by 10 again or it could be diminishing returns where 1B is 10x 10B is 50x 100B is 200x 1000B is 1000x (these are all the multipliers to base) we just dont know we have no wqay to scale it, no indication of the scale in the show and no official source for it.

Guys I have a theory, So you know how Golden Great ape is it's own form? well since it's technically the original SSJ and the saiyan of legend that makes it the true version of SSJ and regular SSJ is a inferior version of it, But in fact the Z LSSJ is the humanoid version. Loved the original myth of the Super Saiyan being the Golden Oozaru form. Me, with the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly being the one I also figured that was something he could do. But in the original movie he got his tail cut off, so despite being freaky powerful and power nonstop in it growing he couldn't reach that ultimate power level. And if he could, would he be overwhelmed and blow up like the one of legend did. But I love the green hair, and maybe Broly would still retain it. But I'm hoping with this new Broly being canon, and said at the start of the movie to be the Legendary Super Saiyan or a mutant. That if they were to adapt the SSj4 and brought back the Golden Oozaru, that it should be Broly who achieves these forms. But he'll need his tail back before he can do this. RIP Akira Toriyama
