Optional Boss #1 - Ancient Devil
This boss is even stronger than Chaos Chimera. Although it doesn't have strong attacks like Vicious Embrace or Chaos Upheaval, it has a moderate array of unpleasant attacks. The most annoying thing about Ancient Devil is that he uses Demon Sign. A nasty move that makes one of your characters possessed, meaning they will fight alongside him. Ancient Devil is also able to summon Haures. Now since Haures deals tons of damage to your party. Did I mention that this boss acts twice per turn?

I was stuck in a never ending revive loop because of that move, ended up figuring out that he used the move in a set pattern and was able to finish him off, was a 1-2 hour fight and I was low level as heck.

I remember dullahan. that boss pissed me off so much. I managed to perfect a strat to not have any of my characters die once as well as no item usage and psynergy usage. just pure djinn and summons. :D

I had the boss take Karis. She usually hits me weakly and her healing spells do little compared to damage done to the boss.

Dulahan just wipes your Djinni at times so you can't use their abilities or their special summons. That and Dullahan also has a summon called Charon, which can wipe out your whole team if you aren't leveled enough. I had a level 50-60 team that got wiped from that summon.

Wow, this video just confirmed something to me that a friend of mine who has been playing this for a week noticed on his second attempt at fighting this thing. Everyone always complains about Demon Sign and usually stealing beast form Sveta, but that's just it, he ALWAYS goes for Sveta. It's not random at all! Demon Sign prioritizes the most recently joined character in your active lineup, in other words there's a reason why he took Himi first, and Sveta second in this video. That's his pattern, and that's why he blissfully never stole Matthew and turned Megiddo against you, because Matthew is the very LAST person he prioritized for Demon Sign.

Demon Sign goes after the person with the highest Agility stat. I looked it up on Ancient Devil wiki.

@@zerosorigin8387 Can confirm, he does go for your faster party member. I used that to manipulate him in a low level run, giving agility boosting equipment to the least useful characters for that fight so he will cast demon sign on them.

@TheEuphoniumboy It's not that. It's better for him to take someone that isn't a healer. Granted, him taking any party member deals a blow in some way or another. Himi is usually the pick of the litter for most people. I let him take Tyrell in my play through.

This guy always possesses my Karis. In all honest opinion, I find her as my "bait" for Demon Sign, then pummel with... I don't know. Quick Strike? Honestly, I saw it risky when I saw Sveta starting. Get her possessed, and everything would go to hell. Has anyone noticed he tends to possess the adept with the highest Agility?

I really hate when a classic rpg battle base only on luck. the only boss that pose problem for me in that games were chimera but only when i don't have luck and triple chaos upheavel, star magician who pop three wind or ghoul ball and this fricking ancient devil with random possession ( some fight he just use it one time, you kill the possesed and you can finish the fight without him reusing it or he can spam it and use posses in the same friking turn you kill your ally)

Here's two tips for dullahan. 1: always keep as many revive items as possible 2: have a team of 80 or higher Do that and you might win.

Lvl 99. If you want to grind levels go to the place where the final boss is and the regular enemies there have a ton of experience. Made me get to lvl. 99 from lvl 50 in about an hour. Also I might talking about the area just before the final boss where you need sveta to protect you with umbra gear

No he uses it on the fastest character on your team. In his case it was Himi with the most agility followed by Sveta.

Bryan McLaughlin after you get the Sol blade you can go back to the island with the tornado/hurricane and use it on the door. You will then have to find your way to him through a maze

No you just need the Sol Blade to unlock those places. Once you get the Sol Blade you can leave the Sanctum.
