[Golden Sun] Fusion Dragon - Mia solo

This is a partly tool-assisted run in which I defeat all the bosses in Golden Sun with Mia only. See the restrictions, stats, and my thoughts about the fight below.

- Only Mia can be alive at any given time
- No Djinn can be on standby before the battle to prevent turn 1 summons
- No items may be used, including in-battle uses of equipment like rings

This run makes use of something I've decided to call "RNG routing." Battles in Golden Sun can be very predictable with the use of savestates since only certain actions advance the RNG before you commit to an action. Thanks to this, it's possible to go through the fight and methodically write a turn by turn action list that will theoretically give you the same result every time you enter the battle on the same RNG seed (like when you load a savestate right before it.) This is a consequence of retrying fights quickly on emulator and rather than have it be a side effect I'd try to ignore I decided to embrace it as a tool I could use to make entertaining videos. If you're put off by this and would rather see a run that is played normally, I recommend looking up my Isaac solo.
It's also worth pointing out that even though I say the run is tool-assisted in some way, I'm still the one performing all the inputs in real time.

I don't have much to say about this fight other than it's really hard and pretty fun. Thanks a lot for watching this batch of content I put out over the last 3 months. Next up are all 3 commentary videos, starting with Chalcedony. No release window in mind, they'll be out when they're out lol

Seeing the hp drop to single digits and you getting by with the weaker heals from the djinn always keeps this fight exciting! Great run!

I think you should try a full playthrough of a low level run. The boss fights are alot of fun, however running away from random encounters is really boring. There are a couple of walls to overcome... looking at you Briggs. There are lot of gold management and other strategies to help make it easier. Kinda. Here are the rules. No exp or gold from random encounters. (Killing all mobs except one to help run away is fine.) Djinni killing bosses for extra exp or gold is not allowed All djinni fights are mandatory for dullahan Djinni killing Djinn for extra exp and gold is not allowed No first turn summoning Everything else goes. I was thinking of banning luff and the other Djinni but the run is already tough enough as is. I've currently been doing this because I'm a masochist but it's up to you if you want to try it.

Oh I forgot a couple rules. No save scumming . If you get a game over you have to take the halved gold.

That is crazy! How many tries did it take you to win? Most of it seems by luck.

This run is a little special, you can read more about it in the video description but in essence I'm not playing the fight turn-by-turn and choosing actions on the fly, I'm selecting very specific actions on specific turns to get the outcome I want. So to answer your question, it took many many many attempts to get the fight to this point, but once I got it there, it was just a matter of repeating the actions and I'd get the result you see in the video every time. Sorry if that kinda kills the magic, this run is tool-assisted in a way but I hope that answers your question! If you'd rather see this boss fought without this method you can check out my Isaac solos, they're played completely improvised.
