This is interesting. From what i gather from skimming wisegeek and yourdictionary, 2nd person storytelling is when the narrator or whatever character addresses the reader directly. By that definition, I don't think this game could be defined as 2nd person, because the characters are always talking to the guy trapped in the control room, not the IRL player.

Imagine a VR game where you have to issue voice commands like this, but you're sitting in a room with cabinets and folders around you and a large console with screens and buttons you use to watch one or more characters. You have to familiarize yourself with the controls on the fly and find relevant information from the folders and other materials around you. Example: You have a woman on the third floor in a closet. There's no camera in the closet, but she found a bomb in there and it is too heavy to move. You have to listen to her describe the bomb and then walk her through disarming it using the information in one of your folders. Meanwhile, a man on the second floor was exploring on his own, and while the woman is fiddling with the bomb on your orders, he reports back in that he's found a secret room behind a bookcase. Inside that room is a paper that shows part of the bomb schematics, so you have him hold the paper to the camera so you can use the information to help the woman. It's entirely possible that you find the secret room with the paper much earlier and already have the information, or maybe you never found it and have to guess. In either case, you're gathering information from many different areas in the building and processing them to lead the people inside to safety.

I'm actually so sad the takeaway at the end was "That sucked" because of how frustrating the voice controls was. Because the atmosphere was so interesting, and the music was so great and the voice acting made me really sympathize with the main character. The lack of direct control and interaction made me really feel for her. And I wish the control was better because I love the idea and execution; it's hindered by the poor voice recognition

This is a game I think had a lot of interesting ideas but the tech just wasn’t there at the time. This main character has a surprising amount of interaction lines it’s just hard for the game to under stand you so it’s hard to help her and progress through the game.

While any kind of game like this would still live or die on the accuracy of its voice recognition system, I think its also held back by over-reliance on the voice system in situations where realistically a security guard would have direct access and control through a more conventional interface - for instance, opening and closing shutter doors/panels/technology (that isn't operated by the voice-operated character) should be something you can directly control through button commands, so that in quick-reaction/combat/high-intensity situations you aren't left in frustration and at the mercy of trying to get the system to recognise your verbal commands, while everything the character themselves does needing to be directed via voice commands. You could even lean into the security guard aspect more, perhaps in the style of classic FNAF, where you can strategically block off doors and vents to cordon off threats as well as creating sensory distractions to lure threats away, giving the player more agency and less risk of being frustrated by the game misunderstanding them at a critical juncture.
