Did anyone ever film Pearl's guest posing at the '77 Universe? I started reading the Weider magazines just after that, and I heard he looked great. Given the scarcity of Pearl video in his heyday, I'd love to see his 1977 form.

I found out from an answer that Judy gave to a person wondering why Bill didn't hire someone to mow his property. It was a serious accident that Bill had where the mower landed on top of him and trapped him. Judy didn't find him until some time later. Bill ended up in the hospital. His injuries were serious. Judy's answer was that Bill had Parkinson's which limited what he could do. He gained pleasure and a sense of purpose mowing his property. While we miss him and feel uneasy contemplating our own death Bill's death was a release from a body crippled by Parkinson's and the added mobility and pain issues from his accident. Bill Pearl is in a better place.

A fine tribute to Bill Pearl - Bill Pearl left an impact on everybody that ever met him. This little piece will be long remembered in the history of this sport or should I say discipline. Bill Pearls death hit me as well - I never thought he would go, he was so healthy and clean living. Tom looks great and his mind is razor sharp, he gives a different perspective on the Iron game. It is very wise what he is saying - like a zen master. I would have loved to see Grimek and Pearl together - two giants of the sport, but I never met Grimek.

Death is,a celebration . Bill lived to be 91 . That is a very long time .. a life we'll lived with purpose. Some very talented men lived for 25 years . Talented men like Tupac and biggie smalls died as baby's 25 years old.. if they weren't murdered ,they would live to be 91 like the great late Bill pearl.. I always say God and nature know our destiny, when we are in our mothers womb.. God is that great.. Bill lived and followed God's plan .. a life well lived epitomizes Bill pearls life .. Rip Bill .you are a class act..

I remember sometime in the 80’s going to a Tom Plazs seminar in London, I attended with my copy of his book Pro Style Bodybuilding and when the opportunity presented itself I asked him to sign it and he wrote the following: Nigel dare to dream & his signature, I still have that book in hardback to this day. As for training and age. I am 73 and still training a four day a week split routine that trains the whole of the body once a week, it’s a lifestyle. Perhaps I am getting old, when I started working out there were no phones in the gym. I cannot understand why people in the gym today spend so much time looking at their phones, I thought they were supposed to be there to train?

Such a fantastic follow up with Tom 👏 Oh boy there are so many great topics here that definitely deems another full length series follow up. 👍 Loved his story about Bill . That type of representation, that mentorship and guidance, much as what Weider was for many, is not evident today. Bill was quite possibly the last one of that generation. Everyone else below him are in their early 70s, if not 60s. Like I was telling Jon Jon the other day, the modern sport is beyond salvation , both with PED abuse and lack of true leadership . I just don't see it getting better.
