I agree that Eric Serra made a completely different sound for this movie, but that made it unique. Brilliant movie. 1995 was a good year.

The Goldeneye soundtrack does get a lot of flack and deservedly so. For the most part it is extremely dated. Tracks like this one are very strong exceptions.

I think Goldeneye is one of the most unique films of the series. The soundtrack is amazing, the story telling too and the visuals are one the best i have ever seen 'til this day comparing to any other movie. Also, Brosnan is awesome here and i think that his face looks very different in the other films for such a short period of time, such a shame because in Tomorrow Never Dies, 2 years after, he already looks older ):

I wish more Bond movies were like GoldenEye. This was probably the first Bond movie I ever watched, and Brosnan was the Bond I grew up with. Not to mention the game.....GoldenEye is as close to an ideal Bond movie past the Connery era that we're ever gonna get, in my opinion. This is a Cold War thriller at its best.

Honestly, I think Goldeneye had the best soundtrack out of all the Bond movies. Some people for whatever reason didn't like the soundtrack in this movie, but I think it fit really well with the action scenes and the setting (ex: when he was escaping from the runway in Russia). This is my favorite Bond movie and it certainly has a high nostalgic value, but the plot, Brosnan and the writing is what makes this my favorite of the series, not the nostalgia.
@guileniam3 жыл бұрын
There are SOME good tracks. Lol. Some are awful. Like 90s super Nintendo quality. You're silly to suggest this is the best next to Barry's Orchestral masterpieces
@imfsresidentotaku96993 жыл бұрын
@@guileniam The GoldenEye soundtrack had plenty of good tracks. It just screams, "Bond is ready for the 90's." Also, are you insinuating that Super Nintendo sound quality was "awful"? If so, then the OP isn't the one being "silly." The SNES soundchip could work wonders, allowing for a wide variety of instrumentation, even sounding like a full orchestra or ensemble. The system has given us great soundtracks for equally great games such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the Castlevania series, the Final Fantasy series, Super Metroid, and the Donkey Kong Country series, which pushed the SNES to the limit in various departments, including the music. And if a game was based on a film or TV show, chances were that the music would sound just as good on the console as it did in the source material and its soundtrack. Examples include Hook, Batman Returns, The Adventures of Batman and Robin, the Super Star Wars series, Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures, the Power Rangers series, Ultraman, Super Godzilla, the Sailor Moon series, Kamen Rider, Animaniacs, The Terminator, the Disney games, Pink Goes to Hollywood, and Scooby-Doo Mystery. In fact, if James Bond had gotten a Super Nintendo game based on the movies, I guarantee that John Barry would've been done justice. Besides, even if Barry's orchestral masterpieces are the best, there's nothing wrong or "silly" with the OP saying that this is the best. He may appreciate the completely different approach that Eric Serra took with his score. He didn't even mention Barry's scores!
@guileniam3 жыл бұрын
@@imfsresidentotaku9699 SNES soundtrack compared to fucking FILM scores in the 90s is fucking awful are you dumb. There's a reason we don't use SNES 16 bit soundtracks in modern gaming lmao. It doesn't say Bond is ready for the 90s for the most part. Some if it does I agree, its very good synth. Others sound appalling. Hence why they replaced part of Serra's score during the tank chase.

Okay...so. We all like that metallic gong sound but most of us still don't know what it is exactly. Our first lead comes from one of the GoldenEye: 007 N64 game composers, Grant Kirkhope explained that the version he used on it's soundtrack was a patch from the E-mu Proteus FX digital synthesizer module. The patch is question called "Infinite One". Recently in the last year or so we've actually found the version that was used on the original film score thanks to the efforts of an amazing composer by the name of Yannick Zenhäusern. The film version comes from a very similar digital synth module from the same company, E-mu, called the E-mu PROcussion. The patch in question is called "Ice Missle". If you want to try to make the sound yourself, all you would need to do is grab a tambourine sample and pitch it down a couple of octaves. Yes you heard me correct. It's a tambourine sample. So there you go, a little bit of insight of the famous GoldenEye sound. I hope this satisfies anyone's interest! Have an amazing day.

Love this track. Serra establishes the sound of this movie perfectly at the very beginning. I love how he uses percussions and weird sounds. Very few acoustic instruments, which was refreshing at the time. And I can´t say how much I love the Timpani-drums on this track.
