The one song that can always have me breaking my heart crying everytime I hear it. It sums up loneliness and wanting someone so much to give a damn. Waking up surrounded by me, a feeling only certain people will understand. Hoping someone will come and save you, but they don’t. I’m sorry no one came to save you, Mum.

If you like the layered orchestral synth sounds and haunting melody I think you would like the Moody Blues. Nights in White Satin is is a gorgeous song but only a small taste of the Moody Blues. Gypsy and Candle of Life are two of my favorites.

I discovered them back in '98 or so when Strict Machine was used in a GameBoy Color ad. I emailed Nintendo asking what the song was and got an answer the next day, downloaded the song, and from then on I was a fan not only of Goldfrapp, but the tech revolution.

As big of a genre shift as this was for them, this is hands down my favorite Goldfrapp song. It really is the definition of beautiful.
@steelyman084 жыл бұрын
Indeed. We'd had Black Cherry & Supernature before this album was released. It took me some time to adapt back then, but it's my all-time favourite album of theirs now. It was the song "Road To Somewhere" that first hooked me in. Seems like a lifetime ago now! If I had to pick a favourite song (which isn't really possible), it would be "Melancholy Sky".
@MsFuzzipoo4 жыл бұрын
It IS beautiful. I was a huge Goldfrapp fan up until this album... I just wasn't ready for it when it was released, and I stopped listening to them for years. Now I'm going back to listen to Seventh Tree and everything they've put out since. My favorite album used to be Supernature...but now, Seventh Tree has easily surpassed it. I'm annoyed at my past self for not being able to see how good this was at the time. On the other hand, I'm kinda glad. It's like I'm getting to discover Goldfrapp all over again, and it's awesome.

Masterpiece IMHO this album is indeed. Not a lot of those to be found. This song has a chipper sound but is haunting. "all I wanted was you to take me out": methinks she is talking to the pills she took. that's a darkness that we all dread facing.

I gotta say, more than nearly any other song, this one always breaks my heart. It sounds like a normal sentimental love song, but listen to the lyrics and you learn its about someone who wakes up the next day after attempting an overdose suicide because of their broken heart.

That’s what the story is! Your 100% right! I started to observe that this song an the video reminded me of someone who is a victim of a kidnapping at a club on Friday night and their body was found in the middle of the forest… and she’s waking up confused and disoriented… but your interpretation makes much more sense!

This is so relatable to me....a couple years back (shortly after lockdown began) I just thought FK it ...I'd had enough because I felt like my life was in ruins and my mental health in tatters ....so I just wolfed down sleeping tablets and thought "to hell with it" ...the next thing I knew it was a couple days later in A&E (only briefly conscious) and then next time I woke once again it was evening on the ward.....I'm not a weak person....not that attempting suicide makes you weak ....I just didn't try because of the COVID lockdown, alot of things had happened in my life that culminated in this ...making real music like this all the more emotional and powerful....goldfrapp is so hugely and terribly underrated ...I've been a fan since "black cherry" ,..bought the CD at 16🤗😊

I personally think that the choreography of this video is what makes it's charm. The fact that it isn't perfect, it isn't in perfect sync and almost clumsy is what makes it perfect. Especially in a world where image is everything, it must be tight and in formation... This throws the rulebook back at the perfect world.. Either that or it's shoddy because them leaf people can't see a bloody thing!
