Nice man glad its running better for you, to knock that afr down from 16 at wot you should add a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. I believe the na/t guys suggest an 12:1 rrfpr but you should be fine with an 8:1 rrfpr with your maf setup. That should get you closer to the 14.7afr or lower, which most of them are saying is better to be richer than lean. Good work

Once you hit positive pressure on a turbo ej, its noticeable..
@Manysdugjohn Жыл бұрын
If everything else is working correctly a 6psi boost is 0.3 bar of boost which will get you 30% more power at full boost. That is significant. That car stock is 160 hp so 30% is 48 more, which gets you close to 210.

How many miles were on the engine when you hooked the turbo up? The stock EJ253 N/A head gaskets are pretty shit, have you exchanged those already? If not I recommend the WRX head gaskets or the Six Star MLS gaskets. Felpro makes a decent set also. Recent installed new heads and gaskets on my '05 outback and im looking to turbo mine. Thanks for the decent content.
@GoldGuyRides6 жыл бұрын
86,000 miles with stock head gaskets and no problems so far, I will change them by 100k for sure
@Tree_Cruiser6 жыл бұрын
Itll start eating coolant when theyre blown probably. The stock gaskets come with a graphite layer and the ethylene glycol eats it away so when youre shopping for gaskets stay away from the ones with that layer and also only go with MLS (Multi-layer steel). The aftermarket compound gaskets are also shit and give out to the coolant. Usually blows on the coolant passage>Cylinder seal surfaces on the bottom of the head. Completely do-able with the engine in the car still, but its a tight fit and hard on the back. I mention this because I didnt notice a lift or engine stand in your garage. Neither do I and I had to do it with the block still in the car lol. Feel free to inbox me if you ever run into questions about it.

EJs aren’t like an LS where you can boost them to 20lbs with stock bottom end parts and just springs to keep the valves shut. If your doing any kind of boost and you want to drive it reliably I’d say at least do some head mods like cams, valvesprings, and valves under 7lbs. Anymore and you should do bottom end stuff.

I watched your videos and for once kept my trap shut. I wanted you to learn by your own mistakes. I knew the ass hat that told you to use electrical tape was giving you really bad advice. I figured you had to learn this stuff the hard way as most of us do. I enjoy my Subaru and intend to buy an older one for myself as my wife drives our 2014 all the time. They are available all over Market place cheap enough. I dont want one with bent valves and blown head gaskets as most are. I may put in a turbo but in reality, I dont thrash on my vehicles and havent since my Mustangs. It was never in my blood like my brothers. The all owned Dodges and beat them to death at the local drag strip every weekend. These were Muscle cars too though. 1970 Cuda's, Challengers, Road Runners and other high performance vehicles. My first car was a 69 Ponitac Catalina. Then a 74 Matidor Coup. They were fast but not melt the tires fast.
