Mili is a story about a girl who suffers from pernicious anemia, a disease considered untreatable during the period the film was produced. Her lively, inquisitive and cheerful demeanour spreads happiness in everyone's life. She becomes an inspiration to her new neighbour Shekhar who is a drunkard and always depressed. With her cheerful ways she changes Shekhar and he falls in love with her, unaware of her ailment. When he comes to know about it, he thinks of going away as he cannot bear to see her die. A reproach from a neighbour makes him reconsider his decision. As he loves the girl, he offers to marry her and take her abroad for her treatment. The film begins and ends with a scene of a jet aircraft taking off, ostensibly carrying the couple to Switzerland where they hope to find a cure.

The last wave is about hope....when i saw the last scene it reminds me of my mom ..when i was leaving for abroad my mom was sitting in the window when i looked she waved me goodbye and she passed away 20 days after that...however i believe she is always around me ... This move made me cry... We the citizen's of the world are going testing times of our lives Pandemic has broken so many hopes.. So many lives lost so many people lost there loved ones at short notices...i humbly request them to stay strong ..there is hope we pray this tough times get over soon... This movie should be dedicated to all people of universe who have lost there loved ones and also to the people who came out of it. Jai Hind 🙏🇮🇳

Year 2018 month December my mother was suffering from aplastic anemia which is rare deasease. We admitted her in delhi AIIMS but doctor said she will live more then 15 days if we give blood every 2nd day. I was crying everyday to seeing her she knows that she will leave her nd she was also crying whole day. It is very difficult to say anobody that u r most beloved person has no time to alive. After 14 days she passed away. I cant explain what i m feeling now but i m crying badly to watching this movie its related to my mothers life nd death

My all time favorite! Amitabh, Jaya, Ashok Da (Dada Muni), Sachin Da and Kishore Da!!! So many legends! But I don't know who decided the getup of 'Ranjeet', the army officer. He must've be groomed and prepared like an army officer, fit, rough and with short hair cut. He didn't took of his beret cap even in home! It's any-time watch movie. So humane, so emotional yet the solutions offered r quite logical. And Ashoke Kumar and Jaya Bhaduri carried the movie on their shoulders. Though am a die-hard fan of AB, but he's just another character of this movie. Such unadulterated love between a father and daughter, such understanding, empathy...if this movie doesn't make one teary-eyed, which one would? Am reminded of my late father, whenever I watch this movie. Incidentally, this was the last film, where SD Burman gave his musical scores. And the music to the song "aaye tum yaad mujhe" will remain etched in the hearts of all music lovers. It's as if, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and SD Burman complemented each other. God bless such noble creators
