Recommended tracks for equipment evaluation: "Jump into the fire" Album: Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson, Has great Bass and Drum duet, Drum starts solo at 3:56 and the Bass kicks in at 4:41, Guitars come back in at 5:09, this is my favorite track for evaluating bass response "Underture" Album: Tommy by The Who, I have used this track for over 30 years, it is demanding and will point out any inconsistencies in Sound Quality, listen to the first three minutes, listen for the the tambourine and the kick drum, the layering and separation of the the instruments, the width of the sound stage of the acoustic guitars, "Cortez the killer" Album: Zuma by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, great Electric Guitar solos, very dynamic, the solo section from 2:35 to 3:32 right before the vocals kick in is amazing, I use a 192 Khz @4 bit Flac high res recording, The ending solo starting at 6:10 to 6:42 is also worth looping on. "Water Music" Album: Burgers by Hot Tuna, instrumental, great acoustic guitar listen how it stands out of the mix in the first minute, awesome harmonics by Jorma at the end. "Girl From Ipanema" Album: Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto, good standard to use for imaging, the Tenor Sax and the Female Vocals should be coming from different areas of the soundstage, Astrud starts singing at 1:21 and the Tenor Sax comes in at 2:34 "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" Album: Graceland by Paul Simon, Great high energy track, lots of drum and jangly guitar, actually most tracks on this album are good for evaluating equipment, it is very well recorded/mixed, listen from the beginning, first minute is acapella, it starts getting massive at 1:00, at 2:12 the trumpets come in from both sides, just amazing music, so layered

@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews Wow, that's really impressive. I have heard of a hybrid AMT headphone, but it hasn't had much popularity so I can't assume they got the two very well incorporated together. Found out about it when I was looking at AMT's for speakers. It was maybe like 200 hundred bucks or something. I've only got a Hifiman 400i as far as nice headphones go, and a KZ AS10. But you did tempt me into getting some more Oppoty into my life so that's in the mail. What would you suggest as an eventual upgrade for the 400i? I use oratory1990's settings for EQ but it's fine on it's own besides being a little anemic on the lower bass. For some reason though, the EQ's for any in ears I've listened to just makes it sound tinny, boosting the treble when it's already plenty enough and cutting the bass more than the 400i without EQ..

Want to first try to get the best out of what I currently have so just investing in the amp at the moment and keep the SP2000 for storage/stream/DAC. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on 'And So I Watch You From Afar - Tip of the Hat, Punch in the Face' from 0:00 to 0:55. Specifically on your overall impression of the drums and how far the bass note at 0:32 extends. Another track is 'Songs: Ohia - Farewell Transmissions' nothing specific its just a great song.

Listen to Anna Ternheim's Summer Rain - Kobra - after 1:50. not sure if it is present on youtube because youtube sound quality, but on dsd, cheaper headphones (HD 600, T50, DT880... etc) had a resonance effect on the very hi notes, and from what I have only Arya could reproduce the very minute difference in frequencies and eliminated that resonance. Please try that and see how it goes.

I would love to see a comparison between these AMT headphones and the HEDDphones. They are both AMT and the HEDDphones get great reviews except when it comes to the bass (light in the bass). The only problem I have with ordering a pair of these is that they are made in China and I have had some problems with returns in that country. I don't want to spend 1500.00+ and then find out I don't like them. For a veteran on a fixed income that is a lot of money. If I were to buy the HEDDphones that is a different story because I can buy through a US vendor that I trust and if I don't like them...Return for a full refund. So I don't know your money situation but if you can get your hands on a pair of HEDDphones and do a comparison that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you want neutrality and accuracy go 400i 2020, if you want better low end go the BD770. Both are good entry picks.

@BroNapartay3 жыл бұрын
@@Max45090 oww yeah that is an important factor, ALWAYS buy a headphone with detachable cable, since that is the first thing to go from wear and tear. Dac/amp for a low cost entry level system schiit stack modi(dac)/magni(amp) for 200 or a fulla which is a single unit for 100 that is a dac/amp geared for gaming, depends on your present and future needs for the sound. Dacs should not modify the sound they should be clear and low noise, only amps should add the flavor.

@BroNapartay3 жыл бұрын
@@Max45090 that tube amp may not work well with the 400i planar, which requires current not voltage, to sound great unlike a dynamic driver... a solid state amp or a hybrid tube amp, would be best fix if you go the 400i route.

I'd like to suggest you bass pulls of Dear Prudence. I had a strange experience today. Yesterday Doctor took out a hard pea sized earwax from my right ear and same volume of sticky chewing gum like earwax from my left. I hadn't listened to music for a fortnight because I was using wax melting medicine on my ears. Today when I put my p1 with bass boost on, all I could hear was mids and treble. Also I had to listen at 10% lesser volume level to be comfortable. The bass guitar of dear prudence was almost non existant. I hope my ear adjusts to the environment soon.

A track/sound suggestion I'd like to know how these handle: Trentemøller - Chameleon The bassline drops in frequency at about 0:38, which many drivers have a hard time with. I know an AMT should do high frequencies well, so I'm curious how it handles the bassline in this track in terms of weight and texture - Its very low frequency and detailed, so on some systems it sounds massive and heavy, on others its barely audible. kzbin.info/www/bejne/laObk2ycppJ4gaM
